Default Speaker Placement

Samsung Q90R 65" TV
Klipsch R-500C Center Channel
Cambridge Audio Aero 2 L/R Speakers (will change eventually but sound good for now)
SVS PB1000 Subwoofer
Onkyo TX-NR797

Room is roughly 10' x 20' the one side of the 10' is open to the kitchen, the other side is patio door and a gas fireplace. Because of this I have the TV centered on the 20' wall and the couch and lazy boy on the other 20' wall.

I have ordered 2 pairs of Polk Audio OMW3 to use as rear surrounds and atmos speakers. I know they are not the best speakers but it's the only one my wife hasn't mind the looks of. The room is our main living room, I wont have a dedicated home theater room until a kid moves out haha.

My plan is to mount the Atmos pair at the ceiling pointed down 6' in from each side, giving them 8' apart apart. The rear surrounds will go at ear level and in 3' from the ends of the walls giving them 14' apart. Does this sound like the best way to do it?

kinda sounds like the speakers will be placed very far apart, is it possible you can post a room layout showing intended speaker locations as well as the main listening position. that will really help.

also, i went first with the OWM-3 for ATMOS, but quickly switched to the OWM-5 as the extra woofer does wonders for the audio beyond the single in the 3.

I considered the OWM-5 however the price turned me off and Polk recommended the 5's for L/R use. I am in Canada, the OWM3 is currnetly 129.99 for a pair, the OWM5 is currently 249 for a single, so it's $260 vs $1000

I'll see if I can come up with a quick diagram, I can place them much closer together I just thought it wound sound better spread apart.

Hopefully this helps, I'm not very good at doing this kind of thing haha. It's not to scale... that's probably obvious from looking at it haha

I bought a pair of Polk OWM-3 last year and installed them from the ceiling right above my couch and they sound great to me, and they are a lot bigger than I thought they were going to be. Luckily there's a beam I secured them to because they are heavy.
Looking at the sketch for the room layout, I would be tempted to focus the rear and height speakers just on the sofa and exclude the chair in the lower right corner, since it's so far away. Just a thought.

I thought about that but that's my main seating position, it's a big lazy boy leather recliner that I fall asleep in most nights lol looking at it again I have the fireplace to small, the chair is very close to being center of the tv
