Default What's the Resolution of 8mm & 16mm film?

It's always something that makes me think. Does anyone know? I know 35mm is 4k.

Default 8mm & 16mm resolution

Standard definition has a resolution of 720 x 576 pixels (PAL).
Standard definition has a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels (NTSC)
Full High definition has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Super 8mm film can have up to twice the resolution of standard definition. However, it is difficult to quantify because different film types, lighting conditions, etc will provide different resolutions.

16mm film provides up to 4 times the resolution of 8mm film.

If you have 8mm or 16mm film then it is worthwhile having the transferred to Blu-ray (or HD for editing) rather than just DVD Video.

Companies such as DVD Infinity www.dvdinfinity.com.au and Pro8mm www.pro8mm.com can do this at a very high quality.

Default Better option for digitisation

These days there are better options for transferring film to digital than the companies previously listed.

You can try https://www.diskbank.com.au/, http://www.nanolab.com.au and http://www.damsmart.com.au in Australia as well.
