Looks generic as hell. I'll give it a go since I love the books, hopefully it's just the awful trailer.

Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Elliott Gould =

Everything else in that trailer =

Liked the movie. Pity they couldn't entice McConaughey back. Where's Netflix' bottomless wallet when you need it?

Hope there's room for some Bosch crossover.

What I find interesting is that Netflix got the series instead of Amazon Prime to make connections with Bosch. What else is interesting, a series like this I would have thought it would be on CBS, NBC or USA (when they used to make great TV Series).

Doubt it, Bosch is part of Amazon Prime/IMDB and do not believe Netflix and Amazon would every come to a deal like Disney/MCU and Sony/MCU.

According to Wiki, CBS was making this with Logan-Marshall Green in negotiations to star until COVID hit. Then last year Netflix picked it up and cut 3 episodes to make it a 10-episode order.

Well that explains why the trailer felt like it belonged on CBS.

The movie felt like a pilot episode of a television series; I'm surprised it's taken this long.

Watched half the season. It’s decent so far (not a fan of procedurals in general) so I think I will finish it.

The Neve Campbell storyline seems pointless tho, I rather they spend more time with Haller and his crew.

Binged this over the last couple of days. It is quite generic & it took a while to get up to speed, but I really enjoyed it once it got going.

It could have quite easily been a few episodes shorter, & as mentioned above, the Neve Campbell thread felt like padding at times (on the other end of the scale, the biker gang stuff was very underwritten).

The cast was pretty solid throughout - the only weak link for me was the ex-biker investigator working for Haller. He just felt a bit off for some reason. Quite disappointed Elliott Gould was only in one scene.

Overall, very entertaining stuff with lots of nice twists & turns. I'd happily watch another season.

Gonna dig out the movie again now to see how it compares.

Pretty formulaic.
The girl who played his daughter must have parents really high up in the film industry food chain.
Last, and certainly not least, they hit the diversity nail squarely on the head for sure.
Nothing else seems to matter that much.

I loved the movie when it came out in theaters. I doubt they ever planned to bring McConaughey back to star in the show. Especially since this was originally set up at CBS and Netflix picked it up after CBS passed on it for reasons.

I also doubt they could afford McConaughey. His fee for a show on FX that he was doing with Nic Pizzolatto was going to be $1 million per episode before FX decided not to make the show. Netflix don't want to pay that kind of money if they want to do more than one season.

I haven't seen a lot of Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, but I thought he was good in The Magnificent Seven remake.

I thought it was pretty decent. Not amazing or great, but a fun watch. CBS made a big mistake losing it to netflix.
