Can someone help me understand this please? I just heard about it. I have a Samsung Sound Bar and I connect it to my tv via Optical Cable and my soundbar plays on every device connected to my TV. I heard ARC makes it so you have less cables but it still goes from the sound bar to the tv right, and would essentially do the same thing the optical cable would do? If so which is better? Thanks.

Depending on the soundbar, HDMI also allows lossless audio formats. Optical limits you to 2 channel PCM, DTS legacy format or Dolby Digital legacy format. It must be a HDMI cable that supports ARC. Off the top of my head, anything v1.4 and above would have no issue. Last edited by oddbox83; 02-04-2019 at 06:45 PM. |
