One of the most enjoyable (and toughest) shoots we have been on, ever.

The job was set up and run by legendary (and nicest man in show business) DIT Dan Carling and we helped out with the second unit and some additional work on the main unit. .

A visually stunning film, shot by Anthony Dod Mantle using Alexa XT's shooting Arriraw. And a couple of very exciting prototype cameras that unfortunately can't be talked about (yet).'

On top of that, it would be absolutely rediculous to film with such high quality cameras at high resolution and then downscale for the finish at 2k. Makes no sense. Hopefully we see more 4k finishes.

4K is always region free, as I understand it.

It's available at Zavvi now, currently at £22.99. For me it was cheaper to order from them at that price with a 10% code and their free shipping, than Amazon's current price of £19.99 -UK VAT +Swedish VAT +shipping...

Here's hoping the first film gets a UHD release to coincide with this, the old Blu is a bit dull. Apparently the recent theatrical rerelease had a visual improvement.

Double posting but I just got back from seeing this and it's a fairly inconsistent movie visually. Quite a few scenes have crazy digital noise, artifacts, smearing, it's almost like they filmed some shots with an iPhone or something. It's weird, I've never really seen a movie switch quality so much from shot to shot in the same scene. Was it just me or did anyone else notice this?

Caught this over the weekend and while it doesn't match the original (and to be fair, it's doesn't really try, it's a new story) it's great catching up with these characters. Amazing soundtrack too.

Like most digital Danny Boyle films, he uses a range of cameras so there were some banding issues on scenes where they have clearly used small cams to get the shot. Shouldn't make a huge difference but those expecting a flawless transfer in a film about ex-junkies, psychos and pimps in Edinurgh might want to beware.

Don't beat yourself up over it, they arent explicit about it being a Terminator reference in the marketing at all, there's no Terminator theme or any hints to Terminator franchise.

I have no proof at all. But I just don't think you name your movie T2 and not be aware that one of the biggest blockbusters of all time had that name too, it goes along with the nihilistic humor they had in the original film. And T2: Judgment Day and the original Trainspotting are both among the most iconic films of the 1990s. T2 Trainspotting will no doubt have a lot of nostalgic moments too.

I read something similar about it elsewhere as well. Just comes down to studios underestimating the intelligence of their audiences, in my estimation. Along the same vein of releasing Mad Max 2 wide as "The Road Warrior", afraid people who hadn't seen Mad Max wouldn't see it. Kind of sucks but is also understandable, because at the end of the day it's butts in seats, and while I'm sure Boyle made the film specifically for people that would appreciate the irony of a title like "T2", that's probably only 1 of 5 said butts in seats, the rest are occupied by people who wouldn't have understood it and hence not gone the same as if they'd titled it "Porno" as a nod to the original written sequel to Trainspotting. It's not without precedent, though. I'm sure many remember Oasis turned down a chance at being featured on the now-iconic OST for Trainspotting because they had no idea what it was about and based their decision on the title alone.
