USA The Last Unicorn (1982) (The Enchanted Edition) - Shout! Factory - June 9, 2015

The Last Unicorn Blu-ray Pre-Order

https://sneakpeek.shoutfactory.com/f...hanted-edition

Quote:
The Enchanted Tale of The Last Unicorn!

Upon hearing that she may be the very last of her kind on Earth, a Unicorn (Mia Farrow) goes in search of others like her. Her quest won't be easy, as it leads her straight to the evil King Haggard (Christopher Lee) and his infamous Red Bull! And the journey is made even more complicated when, to protect her from the envious wrath of Haggard, a spell is cast to turn the Unicorn into the Lady Amalthea, a beautiful, young human woman. But with this new body comes new thoughts and feelings, such as love for Haggard's son, Prince Lir (Jeff Bridges). Will Amalthea get lost inside this new body? Will she meet the fate of the other Unicorns? Or will she be able to defeat Haggard and his Red Bull with the aid of her friends, Schmendrick the bumbling magician (Alan Arkin) and Molly Grue (Tammy Grimes)?

From Arthur Rankin, Jr. and Jules Bass (The Hobbit), comes a magical adventure with an all-star cast, including Mia Farrow, Jeff Bridges, Christopher Lee, Alan Arkin, Tammy Grimes, Angela Lansbury, René Auberjonois and Robert Klein, and unforgettable songs from the rock band, America! The Last Unicorn is proudly presented with a stunning new transfer and new bonus materials!

Excellent news. Was thinking about this one the other day. Glad I didn't pick it up.

I seem to remember the first DVD/Blu omitted some minor curse words like "damn" and "hell", but then also added some extra scenes that weren't in the theatrical. Maybe this new transfer will be the extended version but also reinstate the original dialog and sound effects.

Watched this a bunch on VHS with my sister when we were little but never got around to buying the dvd or bd. I'll probably pick this up for the nostalgia.

I can't wait to see what's new. I wonder if this will be worth getting rid of the Lionsgate version?

Nice. I wish Fox would do this for The Secret of NIMH.

Too true.

I've had it on DVD (twice), then I got the Blu-ray, and now it looks I'll have to get it again? Hoo boy Well I'm crazy for this film so I don't see why I wouldn't get it again

The last blu had an audio track that did feature the curse words. The DVD had them censored though. (As did the DVD before that)

This new BLU needs to port over commentary track and the alternate audio track for sure.

This is a classic movie; if the extras are impressive, I may sell my original Blu-Ray and upgrade.

Wow!
I never would have thought The Last Unicorn would get a double dip. Pretty cool!

I'm really glad to see it will have a new transfer and bonus features. The only negative is that flat, boring cover art. Nothing a talented modder can't tackle. Any takers?

One thing's for sure; since it's also coming to DVD, you can get rid of the 25th AE DVD with that PAL-NTSC transfer!

Unless if the extras aren't ported over.

Interesting! There was a remaster of sorts done for the German 3D version - I bought it but didn't have a 3D player - I can say that even in 2d the remaster was pretty bad, very scrubbed - none of the grain of the original US blu ray. That US one is the one I prefer, with the original audio track w/ swearing. I wonder if this one will use the German remaster?

That cover art is actually based off the poster for the Canadian screening tour of the movie.
