Sony's next press conference is scheduled for March 14th and one item on the agenda is the A1E launch date and pricing, but it's much different than what you posted.
Hopefully the prices you listed will be UPP, but they are not the MSRP and the launch date I was given is also different. |

Our dedicated A1E series webpage is now live.
The 1st allocation is launching sooner than expected, but very limited supply. |

WhatHi*Fi? posted this today
Sony announced its first 4K OLED TV back in January, and we now have a price for the US model. The Sony A1 will start at $5,000 (£4,100) in the US. That's for the 55in model. The 65in version will set you back $6,500 (£5,300). Sony hasn't revealed the price for the 77in screen version yet, but logic suggests it will be somewhere around the $8,000 (£6,500) mark. |

Thanks John, I also posted our new A1E page with the SRP and UPP prices on all three screen sizes. Your USA price are incorrect for the 55" A1E.

Sony is still using LGs panels - I never thought they were going to undercut them, either. Heck, Philips uses LG panels on their European-only OLEDs, too. Call me crazy on this last one, but doesn't Panasonic use LG panels as well?
Pricing might not come down for a while. |

I've received a lot of questions on how to wall mount Sony's A1E and if the stand is removable and how it works and how far off the all would the TV be, etc. I encourage all questions and enjoy answering everyone and helping.
It's best to ask questions here so everyone can learn and we can be the source of the best and most accurate information. To help answer many questions here are the technical drawings with all of the dimensions for the TV on its built-in easel stand and when wall mounted. 55A1E.pdf and 65A1E.pdf |

I agree..I was chomping at the bit for the 65", but may have to hold off until the price comes down below $4000, like the LG has. It's too bad, because I know many were eyeing these sets, but that 65" MSRP will scare off many and bring LG some business for sure.

As long as one company is making the panels for everybody there will be no competition on price, as by definition those panels will more expensive to source as LG ain't gonna be selling them for cost!
![]() But, as I've said before, the technological aspect of the competition is what's making my mouth water here. HDTVtest have just reviewed a Philips OLED and they said it was far better for both near-black artefacting and HDR tone mapping than any of the 2016 LGs, so whether the 2017 LGs will carry across the same refinements remain to be seen. There's me getting all excited about what Sony and Panasonic will be able to do with these OLED panels, but if a minor player like Philips can show up LG's sets like this then it speaks volumes for how mediocre LG's processing is (and always has been, IMO). |
