[Notice] Nova Media Orange Golden Harvest Series Release Information

Dear Customers,
Since 2015, we have been releasing Fortune Star series under Nova Media's brand we thank everyone. We are preparing the Golden Harvest series to release great classics. Currently, we have 25 releases prepared and if you could comment any movies you wish us to release, we will consider it to our release. We thank you for your support and we wish to receive the same support for the Golden Harvest Series.

Some interesting titles there... should all be genuine HD, too, if the Vicol series was anything to go by.

BUT, can anyone here who posts on Nova Media's Facebook ask them for the original Cantonese mono tracks. It's like SUPER important!

i would doubt they even HAVE these Tracks for the HD Versions anymore, judging from the handling over the Years...

They do have at least some of them - Dragon Dynasty got the mono version of FROM BEIJING WITH LOVE out of Golden Harvest.

Extraordinarily unlikely, but if they could include the English dub for LAST HERO IN CHINA that Golden Harvest has, that would be a guaranteed sale.

What blows my mind here is that I've spent years thinking Warners had VIVA EROTICA. Time to upgrade that VCD!

Just wait for the plain edition that will be released a few months down the road, that will sell for the same price as the special edition. Why is this such a difficult question? You guys know how Nova Media is regarding their packaging.

But, the price is great, imho. Now, I can update that old Mei Ah dvd I have. Pre-ordered like a Boss. (whatever that means)

Cant wait to see how good the remaster is. Well, I hope it`s good, anyways. Surely it will be better than before. That is one bat-sh*t crazy *ss movie that needs to be in my HD collection. With that and The Bride with White Hair coming soon, it is going to be one retro 90`s kung-fu flashback. Let the insanity begin!

I don't have much experience with Nova Media Hong Kong releases. Does anyone know whether God of Gamblers is likely to be a new transfer (vs. the version from Vicol)? Thanks.

i can tell you they ripped A Better Tomorrow 1:1 with even the same Encoding Glitch.. so you can maybe expect the same Quality as with the HK Discs...

I would hope that these releases are an improvement over the Fortune Star crap. But, I guess that these could be older masters that they are using. No idea. At least Nova will dress them up and make them all look pretty.

Seriously, I am only after two titles on this list so as long as they look pretty good to me then I will be happy. And, the price is not breaking the bank, either.

These are some of the movies still owned by Golden Harvest themselves (now called Orange Sky Golden Harvest). Fortune Star have nothing to do with these at all. Vicol released some of them on Blu-ray in Hong Kong a couple of years ago and they are proper HD transfers (but without original mono audio), and the Nova discs will most likely be exactly the same but with the inclusion of Korean subs.

Yeah, I knew these were not owned by Fortune Star but was not sure if these were new masters or not. I missed those previous HK blu-ray releases. Good to know that they are true HD; though, probably older masters. Too bad about not having the original soundtracks mono mix. I did notice though that KFCM is listed as 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio/2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio. Yeah, Nova just puts out what they are given. But, I am expecting better PQ than the normal Fortune Star release.

I have pretty much given up hope with HK and original mono. I will just have to deal with it unless I live long enough to see someone else take over the reigns and release these movies as they should be. Not sure that day will ever arrive so I`m not going to worry about. Just hoping that PQ looks good enough to make me happy.

only own a few of the orange sky gh titles (last hero in china, tokyo raiders, man called hero, sex and zen 2) and they all had awesome av and english subs. hope the quality carries over.

Of the two Orange Sky Golden Harvest titles I currently have on Blu, FROM BEIJING WITH LOVE looks fine and has its original subtitles but only has the shoddy 5.1 remix, while YOU SHOOT, I SHOOT similarly looks fine and has its original subtitles, but also includes a PCM 2-channel mix which I assume is the theatrical Dolby SR analog stereo in addition to the typical remix options. The mono mix for FROM BEIJING WITH LOVE is on the Orange Sky Golden Harvest-sourced Dragon Dynasty DVD in Cantonese and English versions; if Nova can get their hands on that Cantonese mono audio I might be quadruple-dipping on FBWL.
