Apocalypse Now or Apocalypse Now Redux

I'm thinking of buying Apocalypse Now or Apocalypse Now Redux. I would like to now which one is the better version.

Apocalypse Now is the original 1979 theatrical version. The Redux cut (done by Coppola himself) from the 1990s is more like an extended directors cut adding in new stuff while removing small sections for pace or continuity.

It depends on your personal preference if you prefer the original theatrical versions as the way you remember seeing them, or recut versions that show more backstory or meaning to the film. The Redux cut has some additions that people aren't fond of, while in some ways its better and shows more footage as to why x or y happened then in the theatrical. The choice is yours.
