Germany The Ren & Stimpy Show - The Complete Series (SD on Blu-ray) -- 7/10/2015

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-R...lu-ray/135034/

I can't find anything on this. The German DVD sets were touted as being "uncut", and as far as I'm aware they were the only set to truly be that way. Can anyone confirm?

This doesn't sound like there are any HD benefits. If you translate the Amazon listing it basically boils down to cramming more episodes on a single BD disc to save space versus DVD.

Irregardless of region coding, I'm assuming this content is in PAL then either way.

Just seeing if anyone has bought this.

Not released until 31st July so no one will have it yet but sounds like the Buck Rogers sets so just the contents of the DVD's put on BD.

Damn good price for the whole lot though, the DVD's are about double the cost.

Will be ordering this now I know about it

Got the season 1+2 set from USA for the banned episode (not on the UK set) but was not happy when I found out the set was cut (despite being advertised as uncut) so I never bought any other seasons

Was looking at the German dvd set but was too expensive for me so this seems like a great alternative, the listing says the release is uncut (when translated) but the packaging in the picture does not say it so I hope this is in fact an uncut release?

I imagine it will be the contents of the DVD's so if they are uncut you can be sure the BD's will be too.

ugh, assuming the content is the same as the dvd's, it's not uncut completely, and the cuts that were restored are german audio only

Didn't know about the only German dub being used on the uncut scenes, not worried about the German title sequence but audio worries me.

I have the set pre-ordered but may have to chicken out if I can't understand the scenes I'm buying it for.

There was a mastering Error with the DVDs. Unfortunately it seems only refer to the still cutted episodes. Turbine provided an exchange disc back in 2013. But I think the audio was still with german inplacements.
So maybe the Episodes are not censored on the BD, but with mixed Audio.

Is there no English audio available for the re-instated scenes on the dvds?

I assume this Blu ray version will be purely a copy of the dvds to blu ray, no additional changes made for this new release.

Just asked for you guys the manufacturer:

-german and english language-option
-should be region-b (but this says nothing.. Parker Lewis is regionfree just as a random note)
-missing german scenes have been subtitled in english

Since this is 576p content in SD, this would require a region-free BD player that can convert PAL to NTSC as it is, anyway. That, and the original English audio missing from the deleted scenes is a pass.

I wish that set Kricfalusi touted years ago came to fruition after the botched initial releases here in the States. Oh well.

I believe I read that Nickelodeon will not allow the uncut versions of certain episodes to be made available, which would explain why certain scenes had to be sourced from the German broadcast masters.

Especially since the Games era had scenes that weren't inappropriate in the first place.

Seriously, Shout! Factory REALLY needs to release this uncut (even though they don't have plans for more shows, they STILL have a deal with Nick!).

The set will likely to be region-free, like the Parker Lewis release.
And no, it's the other way around: The german audio is missing from the deleted scenes.

That isn't true. When they did the DVD set, they made an effort to use uncut masters. But they discovered that the cuts had been made on the original masters, and no uncut version was archived. Nickelodeon didn't even have a copy of Man's Best Friend. The people supervising the editorial on the show didn't think anyone would ever want to go back to the unedited versions.

I guess I might be misunderstanding, but regardless if the discs themselves are Region Free, you would still need a BD player capable of converting PAL content to NTSC. The episodes have not been remastered in HD and are therefore presented in 576p PAL.

I know there have been other region free discs in the past (the German Ninja Turtles Blu-rays come to mind) that have had their bonus content in SD – therefore making the bonus content unplayable on standard US televisions without the proper equipment.

I realize HD content is different, but since this is simply SD content crammed on to two discs to save space, I still believe the ability to output to NTSC correctly is needed.

Also, the issue with the original German DVD set is that a majority of the cuts are restored but are only in German. English subtitles were available. Your post from earlier t seems to indicate the same thing:

But now you're saying the German audio isn't on the deleted scenes? So what's the point of the English subtitles then?

I guess I'm a bit confused. Could you clarify?

I don't know if Turbine Medien uses original masters or the german tv broadcast-tapes for their Ren & Stimpy-releases but the staff acknowledged that the first uncut-release was a mistake on their behalf and they have still some sort of replacement-service running for it. It wasn't supposed to be released cut on DVD as far as I understand their situation.

According their comments to the Ren & Stimpy SD on BD-release on Facebook they stated that the BD-set will be uncut but they still don't have acquired the distribution rights for "season 4-6" yet and will perhaps not release any of the "Adult Party Cartoon"-episodes because they don't have been dubbed in german.

What's the point of the english uncut-subtitles? Honestly, I don't know.

However, I guess, it means that the german version has been broadcasted cut since day 1 and Turbine Medien uses a different video-master for their releases which must have been uncut. Don't take it for granted but I think they have perhaps reworked the existing german dub so it can fit into the uncut material they have. The english dub shouldn't be affected by something like that but you can still ask them on Facebook or their official page if you have any questions or concerns.

So the re-instated scenes (deleted on the original releases) are they in English or German audio? and are there subtitles on these scenes?

Does anyone actually have this set yet?

There are no English subtitles on the German inserts. Set arrived yesterday and have checked one or two of the episodes with added footage.
