I have yet to see the original. But given the story implemented into it, I can imagine it is still a title that holds strong in its own right.

I do still need to see the 2014 version and Shin Godzilla.

However, given the standards I had as a younger man back then, I did see the '98 version and enjoyed it in my own way.

  • Gojira '54: a solid film, certainly, but I always found it a bit dry. Not a fan of the King of the Monsters version.
  • Godzilla Raids Again: I remember being pretty good.
  • KK v G: not a fan--found it too cheap and silly.
  • Mothra v G: enjoyed it a lot, plot's pretty redundant though.
  • Ghidorah: I remember liking it.
  • Ebirah: So darn cheesy, has its moments though.
  • Godzilla's Revenge: my least-favorite so far.
  • Hedorah: I seem to remember this one being really funky and weird.
  • Terror of Mechagodzilla: I remember liking it well enough.
  • G v Biollante: barely remember.
  • G v Mechagodzilla II: pretty sure I saw it, don't remember much though.
  • G v Spacegodzilla: don't remember much about it.
  • G v Destoroyah: there were things I liked about it.
  • Godzilla '98: one of my biggest guilty pleasures. Loved it when I was a kid. Kinda unbearable now. Still own and like in specific parts.
  • Godzilla 2000: couldn't stand.
  • G v Megaguirus: barely remember.
  • Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghodorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack: I remember having a blast with this one. Cheesy, but also lots of incredible destruction.
  • G a Mechagodzilla: barely remember.
  • Godzilla: Tokyo SOS: I remember liking it.
  • Final Wars: stupid, I know, but I really dug certain things about it. I loved the scope and scale. Loved how they tried to incorporate the Matrix-style action aesthetic. Bad movie, but probably the most enjoyable one of the lot.
  • Godizlla '14: rewatched it recently, seems like my appreciation went up. Lots to appreciate and enjoy.

Want to see Shin Godzilla, but not in a rush to.

Out of all I've seen and remembered, I voted on Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghodorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. Seems like I enjoyed that one the most for some reason.

The '70s Mechagodzilla duology made me fall in love with the character and he (maybe more correctly it, since it's a robot - always felt wrong to refer to him as a monster/kaiju too for that reason) is my favorite of all Godzilla's villains. Well, it's close between MG and Gigan anyway, with SpaceGodzilla in third place.

I'll have to rewatch it a few times before I can truly say where it stands for me, but based on that first viewing I think I can safely say it's in my top five. I was really impressed, and it's on a level of filmmaking quality that doesn't grace this franchise all too often (I say that as someone who enjoys pretty much all of them to varying degrees).

I love GMK, I don't even consider it cheesy but one of the few genuinely great movies in the franchise. Shusuke Kaneko is one of, if not the best modern director working in this genre. If you haven't seen them I highly recommend checking out his '90s Gamera trilogy, those are among the best Japanese monster movies ever made.

I haven't seen many of the movies listed, but I liked the 2014 movie the best out of those I have watched. With that said, I found it to be average and disappointing for the most part.

Gigan is simply amazing, but my all time favourite Godzilla villain is King Ghidorah!

The original '54 version is the best but there's fun to be had in nearly all of the sequels. Godzilla Vs. The Thing is my favorite but Godzilla Vs. The Smog Monster is just so damned weird and surreal it's pretty irresistible. The '98 version is lousy and badly cast (and seemingly wants to be a Jurassic Park film more than a Godzilla film). I really liked the 2014 version as it reclaimed a certain tragic gravitas and even majesty for my favorite giant beastie.

This ones my favourite. I do enjoy most of them even the 98 version.

This is difficult since I pretty much like all Gidzilla movies, even the Matthew Broderick one. But I actually went with Monster Island.
The 80's/90's are probably my least favorites.

Predictable that Godzilla '14 gets the most votes. Sad!

My favorite sequel is Terror of Mechagodzilla. Nothing made after the Showa era can top the best Showa films (I haven't seen Shin Godzilla yet).
