Default Sonic D’s THEATER 2

New house, new home theater.

Was quoted $30,000 to finish basement, so decided to do it myself.

Hoping for 7.2.4, we will see what the construction dictates given the hvac.

I have always wanted a theater rack built into the wall. So this is it so far.

Goal here is to show step by step completion. This is going to be a lengthy thread.

I have basic carpentry skills and some working knowledge.

I am going to see how much it will be for me to complete with help where needed or for insurance reasons.

I will update occasionally with $ totals for theater only Including tools; NOT including electronics purchased during build as electronics are personal tastes.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Are you getting some new gear or using what you already have?

Very nice man. Jealous of the in-wall rack.

Looking good. My biggest regret with my setup is not having the rear of the media rack accessible. Although i'm unsure how I would have done it.

Yes, I sold my mirage speakers with the other house.

Deciding on how I am going to do atmos.

Towers possibly for the back, even though better performance is had by in walls or on walls.

Even though Sandy Gross has left Goldenear..........I am heavily invested and will stick with a 100% Goldenear set up.

I will make it accessible using a “false” door at the back.

Redid wall moved back 6 inches at wife’s “request”

Built Mach screen to know where things lie and left an opening for power for a 75 or 85 inch tv.

Used left over wood to build backing for tv mount and lag bolts.

Wife requested that I move wall back. As usual she is right.

Moved back wall backward 3 feet. Didn’t want to have to build another door frame to hide fuse box, but it is better now.

Built back boxes for these..... https://www.paradigm.com/en/in-wall-subwoofers/pcs-82sq

Theater will be 620 square feet now.

Started ladders for hvac

Have to be careful under stairs due to gas line, I have to run ladders and encasement 11 feet. Gas line in middle so will be challenging.

So far $1000 in and 1000 screws. Glad I used screws because if I used nails it would be a disaster.

Default 16 inch drop

Had to do a 16 inch drop due to hvac being dipped below metal beam. Gonna be low ceiling in this area, but unavoidable unfortunately.

So far $1150 in. Picked up more 2x4x8’s just to be on safe side as I am going to be starting 10 1/2 foot run under wide hvac and gas line.
