Default Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions (2016)

Quote:
International distributor 4K Media Inc. announced at its Yu-Gi-Oh! panel at Comic Con International on Saturday that the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! film, now titled Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions, is slated for spring 2016 in Japan and later in 2016 outside of Japan.

The panel featured Yu-Gi-Oh! manga creator Kazuki Takahashi as guest for Q&A and live drawing. He also shared some of his character designs for the film.

Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine teases the film's story, which takes place six months after the end of the manga:

In the past Yūgi Yami and Kaiba have clashed many times!! Yami Yūgi, who resides in Yūgi Mutō's body, and Kaiba will have a duel that bets their prides and accepts each other's mutual experience.

Shunsuke Kazama will return to voice Yūgi Mutō, and Kenjiro Tsuda will return to voice Seto Kaiba as the stars of the film.

4K Media announced last June that a new Yu-Gi-Oh! movie was in development in Japan.

I enjoyed the Pyramid of Light movie and the Bonds Beyond Time one. Looking forward to this one as we get back to the classic yu-gi-oh characters.

Guess there's no word on which cards will come with purchasing a ticket, doubt they'd give away anything good.

I haven't watched Yu-Gi-Oh since I was in middle school. I used to play the Gameboy games and collect/trade the cards as well. Bringing back the memories there, detective.

It will be interesting to see a story that doesn't involve Atem for once.

Yu-Gi-Oh: The Dark Side of Dimensions will be released in America on January 27 for a two week limited engagement. Admission to the movie includes a promotionial Yu-Gi-Oh game card.

Long ago, when the pyramids were still young, Egyptian kings played a game of great and terrible power. These Shadow Games erupted into a war that threatened to destroy the entire world – until a brave and resourceful Pharaoh locked the magic away, imprisoning it within the mystical Millennium Items.

Centuries later, a boy named Yugi Muto unlocks the secret of the Millennium Puzzle. Infused with ancient magical energies, he summons forth the spirit of the Pharaoh from eons ago, for destiny has chosen him to defend the world from the return of the Shadow Games.

Teamed with an eclectic group of loyal friends against an extraordinary array of formidable foes, Yugi and the Pharaoh together battle to defeat forces of unimaginable evil. They ultimately succeed and prevent the world from plunging into darkness forever.

With their mission complete, Yugi and the Pharaoh hold one final match against each other to determine whether Yugi is capable of standing alone without the Pharaoh’s help. When the ritual duel of destiny ends with the Pharaoh’s defeat, the magical Millennium Items are buried deep beneath the Egyptian sands and the Pharaoh’s soul returns to whence it came.

And thus the story came to an end. Until now.

The stakes have never been higher; the rivalries never as fierce; the risks never so great. One wrong move—one card short—and it’s game over for good. A decade in the making, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions features new designs and an all-new story from the original creator of the global phenomenon, Kazuki Takahashi. His masterful tale features anime’s most beloved characters in their long-awaited return: Yugi Muto, Seto Kaiba, and their faithful friends Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, Téa Gardner, and Bakura. It’s the most highly anticipated re-YU-nion ever!

Wonder if the promotional game card is any good, doubt it.

Pretty upset I missed the limited release on this. Was searching it every month last year to remind myself when the release date was. Was extremely busy these past few weeks and was alerted about it just a couple of days ago. This and DBZ were my childhood cartoons/anime, but I was able to catch the last DBZ film in theaters. That was epic. Anyone know when the bluray release will be?

A friend told me the promotion was a shiny gold rare Obelisk as an effect monster.

Also, the lack of enthusiasm from this forum really dates me. Guess there aren't too many young adults that grew up around "nerdy" passions.

If you preordered the BD, cancel it now. Anchor Bay gave it dubtitles!
