Zavvi Introduces: Big Sleeve Editions

Your movie experience just got bigger. Big Sleeve Editions are available to pre-order at Zavvi. Movies are increasingly becoming collectible items in the digital age. Despite the rise of streaming users around the world, owning a collectors hard copy of a favourite movie is becoming more common. People want to nurture, grow and maintain their movie collections into things they can treasure and share with the people they love. Disney have just brought a brand new product to market – Big Sleeve Movie Editions. This is the latest way way to store, display and showcase movie classics in beautifully designed, larger than usual, packaging. Zavvi is proud to be introducing Disney’s Big Sleeve Movie Editions…

What is a Disney Big Sleeve?

Disney have devised a brand new way to experience and treasure the movies you love. Presented in a stunning high-quality 12″ sleeve (the size as a vinyl long play), the hard-copy film casing is no longer something to be kept out of view; hidden or stacked away in a cabinet or on a shelf. They’re beautifully-crafted collectors items with their artwork and photography at the helm of the product design. They exist to be showcased and displayed, as well to provide high definition quality versions of classic, and modern, movies.

I was tempted, for about 15 seconds, then I remembered their packaging...

+Do I REALLY need another way to collect Disney? I think not!

Yeah. Someone needs to tweet them and ask what they plan on shipping these in

I preordered the Force Awakens as it's the new one with the JJ commentary.
I got the GotG as they will no doubt do the other Marvel films.
I'm finding some steels a little boring lately.

They will probably just slap the shipping label right on them.

They might as well throw in the laser disc if it is going to be that size. I'll stick to steels and Target digibooks.

Yeah the email I got mentioned 3d versions of the movies however when looking on the site I didn't notice it mentioned anywhere. Anyone know what the scoop is on that?

I'm already running out of room as it is. Definitely don't need to go bigger.

I went ahead and POd the Star Wars and GOTG. They look cool and as a collector of lps back in the late 70s and early 80s I love large artwork. So I'm in for a few of these and most likely all the Marvel ones and a few Disney classics.

Wow... size alone eliminates these from consideration. No way to display your collection proudly.

Where will people be putting these? In milk crates in a basement closet?

I'm with you on this. GOTG was an automatic preorder (albeit via Amazon UK) and I'm hoping to see all the Marvel titles added for my Marvel collection.

Yep, I had added all these to my AmazonUK cart last week, not sure how far the price will drop, if at all.

Reminds me of Laserdisc packaging, but I don't see the need for such huge packaging when the discs are so small. I like that Aladdin uses the VHS art, though... #nostalgia.

I don't think Steels are as boring as these, in my opinion. Although, it is nice to see the original poster artwork in these. It's been a while since I've seen that Aladdin artwork. I'm afraid of how thin these will be. Probably won't be like laserdiscs and can't imagine why they would even think of doing that.

Tempted to maybe get TFA because it's the new release, but I was planning to just wait for a trilogy set and there's really no guarantee that Ep. VIII would get the same type of release, let alone Ep. IX.

I just watched

Pretty amazing stuff and I would typically see this kind of quality from vinyl. Btw, is anyone besides me rather upset with the way blu-ray packaging is standardized these days?

I collect laserdiscs as well, so saw this and got excited. I am seriously considering TFA as I don't own that on blu-ray yet. Would look nice with my Star Wars Definitive Collection on Laserdisc.
