War Machine (2016) Brad Pitt war comedy on Netflix

The satirical comedy, directed by David Michôd (“Animal Kingdom”) and based on Michael Hastings’ bestselling book “The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan,” marks the biggest film acquisition to date for the streaming service.

“War Machine” follows Pitt, a four-star U.S. military general, patterned after Gen. Stanley McChrystal, determined to win the “impossible” war in Afghanistan.

The Netflix original film will be available in theaters and to Netflix subscribers in 2016.

It's silly to try and glean much about production value from a 45 second teaser anyway. The movie has a bunch of stars in it as well, they don't come cheap. I think it looks great personally, and I'm looking forward to checking it out.

But if you're blowing a huge amount of money in yet another attempt to prove you are a major player, at least show it off. All I see is Brad Pitt walking and tired racial humor.

Star power alone satisfies that for the general public. They also have Bright, with Will Smith upcoming, which will I'm sure showcase its budget based off the trailer.
