It would be awesome to have a new page up for CES 2008. I just hope it's not more people trying to hack the system.

If you trace it, it points to an IP in Amsterdam. Not good.

That's really weird.

I would hope maybe they were updating the web page, upgrading the server, or the SECURITY on the server or something.

You can read and think before registering and posting, well at least some people do. Post count doesn't determine everything...

What does your post have to do with this topic exactly? Do senior members with higher post counts know the reason that a traceroute on the domain points to 62.212.87.19 which is owned by an Amsterdam company?

Strange logic.

for a non knowing nobody, the first site they will probably come to is this one, I did. I never thought to put the disc on blu-ray. So I dont think all this hacking is proving a whole lot other than the immaturity of the HDDVD camp.
Come on guys how does this prove HDDVD is better, its just desperation.
IMO

You know, I am not sure on this as I am not a web hosting guru, but I talked to a friend a while back who owns a major web hosting company and he said they have most of the websites backed up in Amsterdam or in that area of the world. If there is any truth in that, I'd like to know myself.

A whois lookup reveals this:

Which seems accurate, so the site probably IS in Amsterdam... since Phillips is a major patent holder for BD.

So I think this can be put to rest as just an ISP issue, or they are working on the site/server.

Well nslookup shows the same IP, so either someone hacked the DNS and changed it to Amsterdam, or the site is hosted there and they are down. I suppose it's possible it's hosted there, I just figured it would be located in the US or Japan.

Why post this here too, you just did at AVS? Not the reaction you wanted there either?

In addition I checked the actual IP for the website on the nameservers listed, and it DOES indeed point to 62.212.87.19, in Amsterdam. Not a hack.

Well, I know when the site is up it comes from another IP address than the one listed above.

And the fact that Amsterdam is the host, they might have gotten a good deal on a server spot there. Besides, if my friend is correct, that area is supposed to have pretty good security on their servers. Still, it didn't deter someone from hacking the site (not pointing fingers as it could be a practical joke by either side's constituants).
