Good catch. I wonder what they could possibly add to it.

Very cool, but don't get so excited that you type "g" instead of "h".

Yeah, sorry 'bout that.

Thanks.

Could someone please fix that?

I'm trying to do some digging on this and I found that WM has the DVD 50th edition on pre-order. It comes with some kind of figurine. Not sure why its retail price is $45.99 though.

The price should drop, unless that figurine is something really special/cool/big.

I thought it would drop too, but it's the retail price, not their selling price ($41.38). Do those usually drop? I guess it could just be a place holder price.

It's one of my favorite Christmas movies, so I'll definitely be upgrading mine.

Probably a placeholder price until they get confirmation from the manufacturer about the specs. This movie has been released so many times...I don't see how pricing it at $40+ would be sensible, lol.

Glad to see that news is FINALLY starting to trickle out on this. I am surprised that there are not some lavish press releases already drumming up interest.

In an idea world, they will have all the cuts of the film on the Blu-ray:

1964 NBC - Santa and Rudolph do not go back to the Island of Misfit Toys, and Yukon discovers a peppermint mine at the end of the movie

1965 - 1997 - "Fame and Fortune" is created and replaces "We're a Couple of Misfits", Santa and Rudolph go back to the Island, but scenes are cut out (Hermie and Rudolph Misfit reprise, elf orchestra, Yukon finding the peppermint mine)

1998 - 2008 CBS - The previously cut scenes are reinserted (the Yukon scene is still missing), "Fame and Fortune" is removed and replaced with "We're a Couple of Misfists"

2009 - Present CBS - "Fame and Fortune" is still missing with "We're a Couple of Misfits" still appearing.

Ideally, I would also love a hybrid version. The full 1964 Original with the extended Santa and Rudolph returning to the Island of Misfit toys added in. "Fame and Fortune" can be an extra.

I would also love to see the original sponsor promos that aired in 1964. Other than that, port all previous special features from past releases.

And the (later?) Norelco commercials that Rankin & Bass did with the elves from Rudolph.

The original sponsor ads would be great to see on this release - I think people would really get a kick out of seeing them. They're really cool.

I know that they finally found the original 1964 end credits in color last year. You can go to youtube to watch the black/white version. They thought the color film was gone forever. I hope it is on here!

Here's hoping the audio glitch from "Silver and Gold" can be corrected on this release.

I wasn't aware there was an audio glitch. Can you explain?

Yeah. For me, that's the big annoyance with the current release.

It's just one syllable but there is something about it that really grates on my nerves.
