Which Mission Impossible movie do you think is the best?

I firmly believe there was no ''great'' MI movie until 3 arrived. Then Ghost Protocol topped it. Rogue Nation was a solid entry and then Fallout turned out to be a masterpiece.

De Palma's original film is still the best. It subverts expectations in a meaningful way and plays with the genre conventions. I'd rank them:

It's hard to choose between MI:3, Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation, and Fallout. I voted Rogue Nation for the Underwater Rescue Scene.

Rogue Nation by a mile. It had this brilliant old school Hollywood feel like Hitchcock's North by Northwest. Perfect mix of stunts, action, humor, romance, suspense, mystery.

Fallout with Rogue Nation a very close second. Both great movies, but I just loved Fallout a tad bit more.

The only movie that I think is a great film in this franchise is Fallout. Ghost Protocol is fun but I remember thinking the villain was a bit weak in it. I never enjoyed part 1, part 2 is just ok but with the obvious issue of way too much slow motion. Part 3 I remember being just alright but it had a good villain. And I found Rogue Nation to be really overrated.
