Past Lives completely overperforming! Cmon silent killer! A24 needs to ramp up campaigning now. Best Picture is so up in the air yall could steal it for a second row.
Sad to see Color Purple missed Best Picture but Fantasia and Danielle got in and that’s all I really wanted. Last edited by Britnasty; 12-11-2023 at 02:32 PM. |

“Comedy” is such a broad term, but ya, if it’s classified as any type of comedy then “black comedy” would be closest. It’s humorous at times for sure, but didn’t think that overrides the psychological drama aspect to be delineated as a comedy over drama like how the categories are split here.
And especially when Saltburn was still nominated for the drama awards. Last edited by spanky87; 12-11-2023 at 02:19 PM. |

Jennifer Lawrence reacted to her nomination:
I had so much fun making No Hard Feelings, it almost feels wrong to accept such an honor - but I will!!! I have Gene Stupnitsky to thank for his hilarious, heartwarming script and direction. Without Gene, Maddie Barker would’ve just been left as a figment of parental nightmares. Andrew Barth Feldman, I love you to the moon and back. I treasure our friendship, thank you for being the only Percy and for every day that we’ve spent together on and off set. Thank you to Sony Pictures and to the Golden Globes voters for this recognition, I cannot wait for some lukewarm Chardonnay. Let’s go!!! |

Glad to see the love for The Holdovers. Wish Dominic Sessa got a nom, but Paul and Da'Vine are great to see. Glad there was love for Saltburn too.
May December being in Comedy really surprises me too, but I guess that's just the odd categorization of the Globes striking again. I get that it was campy and cheesy, but I don't like I laughed or even smiled once. It's by no means a "feel-good" movie, even with the odd satirical elements. But hey, your mileage may vary. I'll definitely be rooting for The Last of Us in the TV categories. |

They have a whole new 'category' dedicated to 'box office hits', LOL.
They call it "Cinematic and Box Office Achievement". Chasing ratings with that one, LOL. Silly, irrelevant category. The films are either great and just fine in the existing categories or they're not. Box office shouldn't even be a factor. |

“Best Cinematic Box Office Achievement”
Is that new? I’ve never seen an award like this before. Almost seems added just so they could get Taylor Swift to come to the event ![]() Also, anyone else notice there are 6 nominees for everything? LOL at Wish getting a nomination. I’m not a hater it was just genuinely pretty bad. Love the score for Poor Things being nominated (Jerskin Fendrix). Reminded me a lot of the scores in Ari Aster’s films Midsommar and Hereditary. And Yorgos didn’t even have a score for his previous film. Best Supporting Actor is a loaded category imo and might be an interesting one to watch, though I’m sure one will get more momentum than the others. Loved Willem Dafoe the most (and Ruffalo was so perfectly hateable) but I’ll bet Gosling, RDJ, and De Niro will be the popular picks. All of them did so well. I really liked Rosamund Pike in Saltburn and thought she gave a standout performance. I think the disappointment I’m going to have to brace myself for is Across the Spider-Verse winning over The Boy and the Heron, which looks like an inevitability the way that movie is praised. I know I’m in the minority but I thought that sequel was overly long, convoluted, and didn’t even have an ending. It was still good but Miyazaki’s entry more than deserves this one imo. |

I bet the "Oppenehimer" fans are happy about the category because it enabled "Oppenheimer" to have one more nomination than "Poor Things" or "Killers of the Flower Moon". That's fine, as long as they're OK with "Oppenheimer" being nominated in the same category as "Taylor Swift", LOL. Silly category. |

Emma Stone vs Margot Robbie in the Comedy/Musical category for Best Actress will be interesting.
Stone’s character Bella Baxter has so many layers… she is literally an [Show spoiler] Margot Robbie’s Barbie on the other hand is appropriately superficial, yet goes through a very similar journey from Barbie Land into the real world. Both are feminist heroes embarked on a satirical, naturally heavy-handed (as they both take place in an exaggerated world) personal journey. Both were also strong performances. |

Idk about fans of one more or the other, but I don’t think Oppenheimer has a chance in hell to win BP given the sociocultural climate of awards these days. I could be wrong, but the movie doesn’t check the diversity boxes awards shows tend to look for and value. Speaking of, I’m stoked about Lily Gladstone’s nom representing indigenous people. So awesome. Last indigenous person I remember nominated was Yalitza Aparicio for Roma (2018). I still love the reaction video on Twitter of her finding out she was nominated. |
