Never heard of this film until i read a review of it from UK critic Mark Kermode on the BBC website. It's the 2019 sequel to Forbidden Kingdom, again Directed by Oleg Stepchenko. Here's the trailer...

Looks terrible. I'd probably only check it out to see one of Rutger Hauer's last roles, but even then it's probably a pass.

It's actually re-titled for the international audience; its original title is Viy 2: Journey to China, a sequel to the 2014 remake of Viy, a Russian film.

And yes, it looks terrible. I can only wonder if the film still works as a sequel to another existing film (which the film's US title doesn't indicate at all), or whether it has been completely re-edited to be its own stand-alone thing.

From what I've heard Chan & Schwarzenegger only have extended cameos in the film, a common marketing tactic of these Russian-Chinese co-productions.

I really liked Viy but I won't bother with this unless they put out an English friendly 3D blu ray.

If you look at the trailer for this film, the amount of stuff that is 'thrown into' the camera is because the film was shot natively in 3D. I also wonder if Chan and Arnold's only scene together is the Tower Of London sequence..

I kind of got that feeling from the trailer. The scenes with Arnold all seem to be in the same room.

I'm intrigued to wonder how genuinely bad this film is, and am waiting for it to drop to about £2 on Prime Video. Could we have a challenger to the throne of 'Hawk The Slayer' for utterly terrible fantasy movie?

Or maybe it will go straight to Prime within the next 3 months!

I've found it on Prime Video in the UK for rental. Not sure about the US...

Apparently Chan was a Producer on this thing, with Arnold an Executive Producer. If it's only an extended cameo, that seems pointless.
