Ordered the 4K UHD since I am guessing that won't be an option in the US.

Sony holds worldwide distribution rights... so a UHD is highly likely.

The UK release will stop probably be slightly cheaper. If things change, I can always just cancel my pre-order.

Sure and this might even arrive earlier on home video as it ain't out in US cinemas up until March.

I was hoping they'd do a boxset with both films in it. The current blu-ray release of Trainspotting isn't great imo.

The scenes from the first movie in T2 are obviously not sourced from the current Blu scan, so hopefully they'll put out a remastered version, maybe in 4K? That's what I'm holding out for anyway, preordered the 4K for T2 so fingers crossed for a nice boxset of some kind!

Watched this yesterday. Really enjoyed it so I'll definitely be picking this up.

We need a new release of the first film with a better transfer as well.

I really hope for an updated Trainspotting release with the full international version in a new transfer. Basically the U.K. Special Edition DVD with new transfer and maybe some new features. That would be my dream.

Oh, and I preordered the Steelbook

I'd be surprised if this didn't happen in the near future. I saw the film on the big screen very recently and it had definitely been remastered.

The first movie got a 20th Anniversary Release in some EU countries (France, Netherlands, ...) but it seems it's just a repackage of the old disc.

The filmmakers wanted to call it T2, the studio wanted to call it Trainspotting 2... this was the compromise basically. Danny Boyle talked a bit about it on the radio with Kermode and Mayo. They really wanted to avoid just calling it Trainspotting 2 apparently.
