Ok, Discotek... this is your opportunity to demand access to the pre-DNR master.

... but I know you’ll just release whatever they give you.

Why is it when I Google this movie, it says year of release 1982 instead of 1986?

If Discotek, a tiny as f**k company can go 4K, then Criterion has NO EXCUSE.

I hope they have access to a pre-dnr'd master.

No Combo pack. Just the UHD disc. They're doing it to keep the price down.

UHD only is perfectly fine if everything is on the disc itself, please have the Yello soundtrack.

Discotek can "go 4K", in this case, because they're just going to be distributing work that's already been done for them.

No. Replacing "murder" with a synonym really doesn't help me understand what you're trying to say.

True, but the same can be said for a lot of what the Criterion Collection puts out. They've used a lot of 4K scans licensed from other distributors.

Maybe, maybe not. Discotek released BDs of the GALAXY EXPRESS films -- which are about as DNR scrubbed as SPACE COBRA. However -- Discotek added a subtle artificial grain layer to their U.S. releases, which helps quite a bit. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Either way, kudos to Discotek for going 4K!!!

Well, this is Justin Sevakis' first ever UHD, so I'm not sure if adding fake grain is on the table for a first shot... (Justin is the Blu-ray compressionist for everything that Discotek puts out)

It isn’t the same- Criterion uses a lot of 4K scans, but that doesn’t mean that an HDR grade is available/paid for. For this release, the HDR grade is already done and Discotek only has to manufacture.
