It was a reasonably popular arthouse hit though, grossing $6 million domestically and getting Clive Owen noticed in the US (he was cast in The Bourne Identity because of this one).

Owen was HEAVILY rumored to be the next James Bond after Brosnan, but Craig won out. And I for one was glad he did. Owen is ok, but he wouldn't have suited the direction the series took with Craig.

Croupier is an excellent film. Glad it's finally coming to Blu.

Need to see this again, since I still don't quite get the ending. I know it had something to do with the CO character's father, but it wasn't quite clear...

I recently purchased the Hen's Tooth bluray of The Private Eyes with Tim Conway and Don Knotts. I was very pleased with it. It may not be reference quality, but it was definitely a big step up from the DVD.

I'm kinda kicking myself for not pre-ordering a month back or so when they had it at $17.50. I haven't ever seen prices drop on hen's tooth releases after release.

?? Those DVD screenshots look horrible. You cant even see clothes patterns or whats on those security screens at all. The bluray is an improvement.

Owen was never actually considered/approached for Bond. 100% rumor confirmed by him

Colour is better on the DVD, even in Britain people aren't that pale. It's set mostly at night and in a casino that is far from well lit. Take a look at capture number 4 and you can see the blu looks way out of line, at least to me.

It's less colour then a whole issue with contrast and black levels

It looks like the DVD has the opposite problem with those compared to the BD. I wonder where the BD master was made and what the source was.
