I finally got myself a Blu-Ray player in the form of the 80GB PS3. I am planning to view movies/play games on my Sharp Aquos LC32AD5U via HDMI (no special audio setup... yet).

I have read that my HDTV is a 720p. Will this mean I won't be able to watch movies labeled as 1080p (i.e. The Simpsons Movie, Superbad)?

Thanks in advance and this site is awesome.

welcome to blu-ray.com

you will be able to watch all blu-ray movies, the only draw back to your setup is you will have to watch them in 720p, where if you had a 1080p display you could watch them in 1080p. dvd will only do 480p, so you still get a lot more resolution out of blu-ray (it downconverts the 1080p signal into 720p)

Hey Knowledge!

Blu-rays will still look great in 720p.

That's cool, that'll hold me down until I scrape up dinero to upgrade to a 1080p set.

Thanks for the feedback.
