What are your favourite movies that either showcase a real world cave or feature caving as part of the movie, or take place mostly in caves?
I'll start with an easy/ obvious one, and IMO one of the best, The Descent. Most of the movie takes place in the caves and the characters are all cavers. I'll follow up with a much lesser known one, The Borderlands (2013). The finale takes place in some caves, i believe it was filmed at Chislehurst Caves in London https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chislehurst_Caves . And for another good, real world cave being featured, look no further than The Lair of the White Worm which features the striking Thor's Cave in Manifold Valley, Staffordshire, UK ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor%27s_Cave ). I believe this cave was also used in Hawk the Slayer. |
