True, at least all the theatrical films. We still haven't seen It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie (2002) and The Muppets' Wizard of Oz (2005), but then again... who cares? |

Reassessing this announcement, I definitely share the disappointment with others that Disney decided to go the double feature route with these especially since "The Great Muppet Caper" (along with "The Muppets Take Manhattan") is arguably one of the stronger sequels. I was all but convinced that we'd be seeing a solo release of "Caper" to coincide with the theatrical release of "Muppets Most Wanted" and saving a solo release of "Muppet Treasure Island" for a mid-late Summer release to possibly coincide with the latest film's home video release. It simply just wasn't meant to be but it would definitely be better if "The Great Muppet Caper" was billed first considering it came before "Muppet Treasure Island" but I doubt that will be happening. Overall, still thrilled we're getting these on Blu-ray

Ok, while I'm thrilled to get these on Blu-ray (just the other day I was thinking how we only needed two more movies to have all the theatrical Muppet movies on Blu-ray) I just need to say how awful that cover is x__x I mean... I'm not buying it for the cover obviously but.. ugh. Both of these movies are great enough to warrant their own individual releases IMO.
Also I have no idea where on the shelf I'm going to put it lol. I keep my Muppet movies in release date order, so the question will be whether I put this in between The Muppet Movie and The Muppets Take Manhattan or in between Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppets From Space. But on the positive side it will only take up the space of one case instead of two (shelf space is becoming increasingly important to me haha) and at least we sky have to wait very long for these. Now we just need The Muppet Show seasons 4 and 5... and I'd also like to see a widescreen release of Wizard of Oz. oh and I'd like to see Muppets Tonight, too haha |

From this double-bill, I get the impression Disney just wants to be done with this, like 'Here, fans want both movies on bluray, just slap em together on one disk and hand it over."
I hope they treat the transfers right. Oh and yeah...."Caper" really SHOULD be on the left side. But.....we rejoice to be getting them. |

Happy, and disappointed, excited and frustrated....damn you Disney.
Happy that I'll have Caper on Blu, disappointed it's a two pack with Treasure Island, an alright movie but a differnt part of Muppet Cinema, like Christmas Carol. Excited that the theatricals will all be out now, and frustrated Treasure Island got Left Side billing Grrrr. Oh well. |

I don't get it. I'm not a fan of it. But if I get decent transfers of them, I suppose I won't complain. From a marketing standpoint, this doesn't make much sense. They've waited this long to release them, but they're not going to tie Muppets Treasure Island to a Pirates of the Carribean release? Or tie Great Muppet Caper to the similarly-themed theatrical film in 2014? Why wait this long to just slap them on a disc? ![]() |
