Default High-Def media selection has/is getting boring!

First off I'm going to state that I LOVE BLU-RAY!
But lately it seems like the library is getting boring. Other than new hollywood releases (like War, RE3 and others) there isn't much good movies being released. And there aren't many titles already available that are worth it either, unless they are on a BOGO free sale.

Maybe I'm alone in this or just too picky. But at least it's still way better than hddvd's future library!

Agreed about it getting boring...

and then The Bits posts about some of Fox's new line-up and they are all yawn-worthy.

For instance: Alien versus Preditor?

Who's kidding!? Give me *Preditor* or give me the Alien films... sheesh!

Sound of Music and Moulin Rouge would be nice too. There are many titles Fox released on D-VHS that still haven't surfaced on Blu-ray.

Movies in general are boring to me. Blu-ray or otherwise... most movies blow chunks.

ATM, I cannot think of any movie that I would want to watch, let alone buy, on *ANY* format.

I think the studios are holding back a little in case they need to strategically use some of their blockbuster titles.

That has nothing to do with HD media though. That is an issue across the board, VHS, DVD, HD DUD's, etc. Take it up with Hollywood.

Because, the movies that I *DO* buy and watch, are on Blu-ray.
Is that ok with you?

Cannot say about other people, but I buy movies that peak my interest - not just anything because of the format.

Why I do not understand is why studios who are invested in Blu-Ray are not releasing more catalog titles.

I do understand high production costs and that HDM is a small market. However, maybe the reason the market is so small is because the small media selection.

Like many of you, there are so many movies that I would pick up in a second if they were released on Blu-Ray yet the studios hold back. They hold back for the war to end, when the fact of the matter is, this just prolongs the war. Just release the titles everybody wants and end the war. Do this and they ensure victory and in the long term more money. When you spend your resources on movies like "Little Man" or "Daddy's Girl" and not on real titles it makes me wonder how much they really want to win.

THANK YOU Sonny!
People seem to forget that we are all different and that we just might have different tastes.

Yes, Blu-ray included. Sorry people!

This is not to say that I do not HAVE movies to watch, just that nothing OUT THERE is anything that I would want to spend money on - sue me!

I just watched Paul Verhoeven's "Black Book" and Guillermo Del Toro's "Pan's Labyrinth." Neither were big Hollywood productions and both were far better than most of the crap coming from the major studios. There are plenty of great films on Blu-ray. I would say you need to look a bit closer at what is available because "War" and "Resident Evil: Extinction" aren't exactly great filmmaking.

There are plenty of great high def titles available. In fact, I am surprised how quick we were treated to wonderful hi-def editions of classics like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and "Blade Runner." I am far from bored. There is more to see than hours in the day in which to view them.

What about movies that are out of our preferred genre? Buy them anyways? Not happening!

"Great filmaking", no...but they aren't supposed to be. There are "Films" and there are "Movies". Pan's Labyrinth is a Film. Resident Evil is a Movie. Films have artistic value. Movies are for entertainment. Both have their place in our society. Personally I'm looking forward to both War and Resident Evil, but then again I tend to prefer movies over films, although I do love a good film from time to time. (Pan's Labyrinth was fantastic, by the way)
