I have a panny bd10ak and my buddy has a sammy 1400 and we both have the same gripe. Everything works great except the fact that if you stop a film and power off, you have to start from the beginning if you come back to it later. Are the the ce's thinkin you should watch something in one sitting? I would think something like this would be able to be taken care of in a firmware upgrade. Sometimes you just have to interrupt a film and come back to it later, so why can't these bd players remember where you were like all dvd players do? I don't know if I am in a minority about this, but it sure would be good to know who to talk with to see if this could be an added feature.

My Panasonic BD30 is 1.1 Compliant, but it doesn't do this either! I'm hoping a firmware update will enable this feature, because it is a bit annoying! -TheChad |

I think it's actually a feature enabled by the disc and not the player, but I'm not sure. War is the only 1.1 disc I have right now, and it's the only one with that feature, so if others with 1.1 media could weigh in, it would clear some things up.

Depends on the disc. Resume play seems to work on all SD DVDs I have tried, but only on a few Blu-rays. Panasonic dropped the ball on this one. However, I might note (and will probably receive a ban notice...again) the Toshiba A35 HD DVD player shares this design "flaw".

Also some movies have TONS of scenes, So it is time consuming, but also its not always that easy to find where you left off. Also when you select a scene on a Blu Ray, it forces you to watch the Opening Logo, and FBI warnings again, VS just playing the movie right where it was stopped. -TheChad |

You can actually remove a DVD from an XBox 360, reinsert it, and pick up where you left off.
Many DVD Players do this as well. I have yet to get a chance to try this out on my new Blu-Ray player, but as mentioned above, its not that tough to go to the chapter selection. Its a nice feature to have, dont get me wrong, but hardly a deal breaker. |
