Default Has anyone purchased both a Blu-ray and HDDVD Player or a Combo Player???

I was wondering if anyone owns 2 separate players or a combo player and if so why they purchased that way and not stick with just on format.

Where do you think HDDVD is headed and will Universal absolutely wake up and start releasing Blu-Ray?

Do you feel that either format has better quality??

I was originally going to get the Samsung Duo Player but didn't think it was as good a value as the BD-P1400. You could get 2 Separate players for less.

I paid 269.99 for my BD-P1400.

I have both, Toshiba HD-D3 and Sony S-300.I bought seperate players because it was cheaper and i dislike universal players of any type.Video wise i would call it a draw, very dependant on the film, audio wise Bluray has the edge and HD-DVD has the edge in interactivity with web enabled players from the start.I went blu first but there were many films i wanted to see in high def and did not want to wait for the war to run its course.

I like a lot of the features on the HD DVD player, but The PQ and AQ go to Blu-Ray. The Disney movie "Cars" proved that to me. An HD DVD release always looks a little soft in comparison to a Blu-Ray release. It is hard to belive, but the higher bit-rate of the Blu-Ray releases do make for a more dynamic image.

For sound quality, there is nothing better than Blu-Ray. Blu-Ray has a way to go for pure interactivity, but that is getting much better. The fact is, with Blu-Ray's increased capacity, they don't really need online connectivity. By that I mean it doesn't have to download the extra content, it is already on the disk.

I like HD DVD I really do, but Blu-Ray is the winner. Thats why I have 2 Blu-Ray players ( PS3 and Panasonic BD30) and only 1 HD DVD player. Blu-Ray has my money, and my loyalty. I WAS format neutral, but for some time I have been leaning to Blu-Ray. Now I'm true Blu!

Given the Warner decision I would encourage you to save your money and see where everything is by the end of the quarter if not sooner. There is not much chance of HD-DVD surviving so why spend your money on a format which probably won't be around much longer. Most of the people who support both made their decision when the war looked like it would drag on for another year or two. Paramount/Dreamworks and Universal can not hold back the tide, doing so would only anger consumers, the longer they delay the more costly it will become.

As for the quality, Blu-ray definitely has better quality it has just been that not all studios chose to release the best possible product as they catered to the lowest common denominator, HD-DVD's 30GB max compared to Blu-ray's 50GB. That will change, I recommend you check out some Disney movies to really see what Blu-ray is capable of.

I have both a Sony PS3 and a HD-A2. I only have a few HD-DVDs but have several blu-rays. I got the HD-A2 because it up-converts standard DVDs better than my previous Sony reference DVD player. It worth that in price alone.

I got the PS3 40Gb just before Thanksgiving and I picked up a Open-Boxed Tosh A2 for $69 bucks at Circuit City in early December, that was just cheap enough for me to turn Purple

I have Blu-Ray movies but no player. I was always planning to buy a Blu-Ray player for my pc. Why buy two different format players. When you need only one-Blu-Ray. Think Smart.

I bought my first blu-ray, House of Flying Daggers, before I got my first blu-ray player--my 60 GB PS3 that I found traveling through New Mexico on Christmas Eve.

I have been doing a lot of on-line reading in the past couple days. With Blu- Ray having 70% of the market and GROWING I think I will wait a while.

COME ON UNIVERSAL & Lucas Film....Get those titles flowing.

I cannot wait for Back to The Future and Star Wars to make the plung...........Yea, Yea, sci-fi geek from the 80's.......what are you going to do. But you would never peg me as that in person, it is my dirty little secret!

I have a nice Toshiba HD-A35, cheap! In a few months, it's going to be hard to even give that thing away!

No. I am very comfortable with my Blu-ray player. I have already doubled dipped in my SD-DVD collection for Blu. I feel there is no need to double dip into HD movies, i can wait for those other titles that are not on BD to come on BD. Go Blu!

Default I have Both..

I have a Pan Blu-Ray and Toshiba HD-A20. The only reason I even have the HD-DVD is for Clerks2 and Mallrats.. Yay Kevin Smith.. I LOOOOOVE my Blu-Ray. I think its by far the best way to go..Originally was just going HD-DVD, but got wise very quickly. Blu-Ray is the ultimate experience for me. It amazes me every time. HD-DVD, not so much..
