Quote:
Official Synopsis: Academy Award-winning producer Steven Spielberg launches a sci-fi thriller that explores the realms of family, evolution and, ultimately, the survival of the human race. Academy Award winner Halle Berry plays Molly Woods, an astronaut trying to readjust to life on earth after a 13-month space mission. But slipping back into her role as wife and mother gets complicated when her doctor (Golden Globe winner Camryn Manheim) discovers that after a year-long solo mission, Molly is inexplicably pregnant.

Adding to her stress, Molly struggles to reconnect with her "son," a humanoid robot created by her engineer husband (Goran Visnijic), both as a response to their infertility and as a scientific pet project. From the creation of life to the mysteries of space to the future of humanity, the world will never be the same. And neither will Molly Woods.

I haven't had a chance to watch this show at all, even though I was interested in it (when I saw the promos).

Yeah...that's probably a good thing. I wanted to like the show, but it's been a chore to sit through. The production values look great but the story is very slow moving and it appears there will be only an extremely minimal payoff approaching the season (or will it be series?) finale. I read that several networks bid on the show and while it landed on CBS, one wonders what it could've been if it was on FX or HBO. Kinda reminds me of how Terra Nova fizzled.
It's funny because the Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada plays a character in this show that's as mysterious as his character in Helix, and despite that show having a lower budget and an arguably sillier premise, it's a much more entertaining, suspense building show.

I like the show quite a bit but probably not enough to want to own it. It doesn't seem to have that rewatchability factor. The best thing about it is that it isn't as unrelentingly stupid and vapid as Under the Dome is.

I actually enjoy the show quite a bit, it had a slow first few episodes but it has really taken off, the season finale is on here in about a half hour, all ready to watch!

Didn't expect much from that new Sci-Fi series but find it pretty good actually (saw only the first 6 episodes since it started airing in France just 2 weeks ago). The production design as the SFX are really fine, even if it has nothing revolutionary the story is entertaining and on top of that, the cast/acting is rather strong (glad to see Halle Berry and her beautiful curves back in something decent and man, that little Pierce Gagnon is as usual AMAZING - his performance in Looper just blew me away ! ). That being said, buying the whole thing is another story, specially given the price which is indeed totally out of this world...

I really wanted to like this show, but it just never lived up to it's potential IMO. I really like Halle Berry as an actress, but in this whole series she just had this look like Tom Coughlin(NY Giant Head Coach), on the sidelines, after a bad call.

I would be interested to see all the extras. Perhaps this will get a nice drop in price next year and I can pick it up then.

Never thought I'd see a Coughlin reference on here

If you do watch this series again, just keep that in mind as the series unfolds. Berry's "distress face" gets funnier and funnier, at least IMHO.
One thing I did really like, that I neglected to mention, as all the cool gadetry they had in this. I just love that stuff!

For the few people who may possibly be interested Best Buy has this at the cheapest price right now at $42.99. I'm gonna assume release day it'll be $39.99.

the difference between the two is that Halle's show has already been picked up for another season, i don't think the same will be true of Tom.

Well someone just posted in the Neo Case thread, that Extant S1 comes in a Neo Case. So for me, preordering went from a doubtful to a yes!

I probably won't get this right away because of the price, but I thought it was a terrific show, and not just because it starred one of the most gorgeous women I've ever seen. I found the story and many of the ideas very intriguing, in a sort of Blade Runner-esque way.

I didn't think the story was slow to sit through at all, although I could maybe see why some would; in that regard, the show might play better for them on disk. Overall, though, I thought it was great and I'm looking forward to season two.

Anyone get this at Best Buy and happen to get their exclusive version with the pilot of Madam Secretary? I'm curious if it was on a BD or not. Thanks!
