Rare "Tallboy" find.

Yet another great CL find.

VMPS Larger "Tallboy" passive subwoofer

The Larger sub comes with two active woofers (12-inch and 15-inch) and a 15-inch downward-firing, slot-loaded passive radiator. This subwoofer is very substantial as the large (39”h x 22”w x 17”d) size and massive drivers allow this sub to achieve of 17Hz with a 3dB rolloff point!

Still in the wrong section...but the VMPS is now powered by a Crown XLS1000.

Curious to know how this would compare to an SVS-NSD12. It looks impressive... I just checked a good Canadian used audio gear site and didn't get any hits, but I wouldn't mind keeping an eye out for this, it just looks impressive and would fit a spot in my theatre perfectly. Can never have enough powerful low bass.

I can say that it is definately a quality piece. I can answer your question, as I have 2 of the SVS PB12 Plus/2's, and 1 PB12 NSD/2's in my HT setup. Not quite a fair comparison to the Larger, however, for HT, I'd stick with the SVS. The Larger is not a slouch by any means, I just feel it is better suited for music than HT. It goes plenty low (below 20hz), but if you were to examine the woofer basket, and surrounds..they would have issues at the high db spectrum, theyd bottom, not enough xmax.

HOWEVER, if you dont blast your movies, youd be fine. I mean, I've had the Larger upwards of 113+ db with no backing down. So who knows!
