Tempted by this. How easy are soundbars to install? Do they make dialogue clearer? (I care much more about that than "booming explosions.")

That's what I like about the 2.0 bars, no subs to aggravate my migraines Fairly painless to hook up, I haven't this up yet, but hooked up the 29" one last year to parents TV. Hooked up with the included TOSLINK cable digital out on TV to Digital in on the bar. The dialogue was a lot better on the sound bar, my dad is very hard of hearing and was happy with it. I just turned the bass down.

I'm sure there are better soundbars out there but $69 I had to jump on this, I'm quit sick of the tinny lackluster sound on my Panasonic TV. I'm not 100% sure what different there is between this and the 29" model, other then the 29" is usually cheaper. Also the 38" has a 100 dB Sound Pressure level the 29" only has 95dB so I think it will be cleaner.

Do the 29" and 38" measurements have to do with the size of the soundbar or the size your TV should be for the soundbar to work effectively? For example, will there be any problems using a 38" soundbar with a 55" TV?

The 29" is supposed to work with 32" class TV's and the the 38" They say is for 42" Class and up. I have a 40" class but I still went with the bigger bar.

One final question: Do you just hook it up to the TV and it will automatically work with Blu-ray players, game systems, Roku boxes, etc.? Or do all of those require some kind of special hookups?

From what I can find online, in theory that is how it's supposed to work when you hook it up with the Toslink (Spdif cable) as long as the TV passes audio . Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend to mess with it

Just to update, since it's still on sale...and I've finally got a chance to hook it up.

I hooked the soundbar up tonight. Hooked up via Toslink from the soundbar to the TV. So far everything I've thrown at it works: Cablebox on HDMI-1. HDMI-2 consists of an HDMI switch with blu-ray player, Fire TV, and Roku. With just that one toslink hookup everything has worked fine with my Panasonic TV

Sound is very impressive, movie theater? No, but it more then fills my room at less then half volume. It has a good amount of bass but not bosomy. Most important to me was clarity and improved soundfield over my TV's craptastic speakers. It's leaps and bounds improvement over my TV. The half hour I've listened to it, I pick up things in movies I haven't heard before.

I found one!!!

Thanks for all your help!

Edit: The one I found was the SB3820-C6, not the SB3820x-C6 in the OP, but there don't appear to be any major differences - and the price was the same.

[Show spoiler]
Glad to be of help, just looked the 2 models up, the only difference is X didn't include a digital coax cable. Also as I figured X was a promotional model number for Black Friday. I guess I missed this in the ad this year, I just looked at the AD Scans and this was in the black Friday ad (same price).

I picked up 2 of these from Target for this exact reason.
They work great. I've had them for about 4 months now, maybe longer I can't remember.

Talk about a Dead Deal, Target doesn't sell this anymore - no longer sold in stores and no longer available online.

Maybe another hiccup with the site change that put the iTunes thread in Hot Deals instead of Digital Movies and now has TV Discussions on the main Forum Posts screen

Well the thread was from nearly a year ago.

The Insignia and Insignia 2.0 soundbar are on sale for $49.99 at Best Buy for now. They rotate from $99.99 not on sale.
