Thumbs up Girl House (2015 Slasher Horror Flick)

Plot:

In an attempt to make some extra cash while away at College, Kylie moves into a house that streams content to an X-rated website. After a deranged fan hacks in to determine the house's location, she finds herself in a terrifying fight for her life.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/girl...h=girl%20house

Girl House is an impressive first feature for Trevor Matthews. For a slasher film, there is suitable attention to detail and a reputable level of respect for all the characters.
- Brian Formo, IGN Movies

The film fully embraces its love of blood and gore with some stellar practical effects work that serves to heighten the horror.
- Rob Hunter, Film School Rejects

Builds to an intense final act that pays off everything its established about the house and the girls. It has a great riff on the classic 'look behind you' moments of horror movies. It takes Scream to the next level.
- Fred Topel, Nuke the Fridge

I hate to post the trailer for this because it made it look so cheap. I watched it because I enjoy a good slasher and it looked entertaining enough (plus reviews were way better than I expected). I'm glad I did because the film looks way more polished than I thought it would from the trailer. I dug this one a lot. If you like an old-fashioned slasher flick this is a good one. The lead girl was really cute and likable (reminded me of a young Rose Byrne) and her love interest was really likable as well. The kills are brutal too and the finale was pretty awesome. This isn't a super classy horror film like It Follows or The Babadook, but it's a nice down-'n-dirty slasher flick that I would totally recommend if you like those. I'd give it a B+.

Here's the trailer. If nothing else if you watch it and then watch the movie you'll probably be pleasantly surprised that the movie is better than it looked.

This. Looks. Awesome.

I'm glad that they made something rough and tumble. I definitely need to see this.

Watched this a few months ago after it got a bit of internet buzz. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Hopefully a Blu-ray release will surface soon.

Yeah I've been checking and so far no Blu-ray or DVD has been announced. I watched it on VOD.

I swear though this isn't as cheap and cheesy as the trailer makes it look. It possibly could have done decently at the Box Office with a wide release. If they cut a better trailer that is.

I thought it made it look entertaining but cheesy. I just think it's better than the trailer makes it look.

Definitely interested in this. The guy playing the supposed killer is a hip hop artist named Slaine. He has been in a few other movies - Gone Baby Gone, The Town, Killing Them Softly - and he was pretty decent in those. I'm a fan of his music and slasher films in general so this looks like a win.

Watched it yesterday and surprisingly it wasn't too bad. Sure it had its cheesiness but it was a fun watch.

Want to see this but going to wait for it to either hit BD/DVD or Netflix if it does.

Well worth the watch. One of the better films I've seen this year. Granted I've not seen many. Quite enjoyed it

I enjoyed this! I wish the deaths were more on-screen though. And the killer's mask could've been better. It reminded me of the killer in the House Of Wax remake.

I couldn't enjoy this at all. Slaine as the killer was dreadful. I was so glad when it was over. It's a shame because the synopsis read "a Halloween style slasher for the digital age". That would be something more in the style of It Follows, not this.

^ Did you honestly expect a slasher flick about naked college girls posing for webcams to be of the same caliber as Halloween or It Follows?

I thought the movie was better than it has any right to be, but it's still just a straight-forward slasher movie. Nothing wrong with that though. I love a good R-rated slasher movie, and Girlhouse more than delivered.
