United Kingdom Frozen 3D Blu-ray (2013) [Region Free]

Moderator note:
Frozen was released REGION FREE on 3D Blu-ray worldwide except in America, where it was only released in 2D.

Original post:
Frozen is a 2013 American computer animated musical fantasy-comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.[4] Loosely inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Snow Queen, it is the 53rd animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. Featuring the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad, the film tells the story of a fearless, yet optimistic princess who sets off on an epic journey alongside a rugged mountain man, his loyal reindeer, and a hapless snowman to find her sister, the Snow Queen, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom in eternal winter.

Can't wait to see this on Wednesday. Should look great in 3D

Thumbs up

Thanks for posting the info Chaotic.

Frozen looks interesting and I hear it has musical numbers like many of the classic Disney movies of the past.

I might not have time this week, but am wondering how they pull off the 3D strength, after seeing Wreck it Ralph from Disney, and noticing they could have pushed the 3D more, mostly medium 3D it seemed compared to stronger 3D in titles like Madagascar 3 3D or Croods 3D.

Nothing wrong with medium 3D, but personally enjoy the image pop of strong 3D more. Hopefully Frozen hits that goal for 3D.

Oh yeah? I thought the 3D in Wreck It Ralph was fantastic. I'm really excited about seeing Frozen.

Saw the screening of this last week. Very typical of Disney movie. The 3D is pretty good also. Going to do well this week I am pretty sure

USA Frozen 3D (US) Order Cancelled By Amazon

I just got an email cancelling my preorder for Frozen 3D. They had a link for a new version of the product, which was not in 3D, but appears to be a standard Blu Ray release.

Does this mean we will not get this movie in 3D ? Maybe the announcement is delayed a few days and the spec is different than the original ?

Either way, I was a little disturbed by this.

It is a little disturbing when there is no explanation.
Amazon Email:

We recently learned the following item is no longer available from our supplier:
'Frozen (Three-Disc 3D Blu-ray / Blu-ray / DVD + Digital Copy)'
As a result, this item has been cancelled from your order
First, 20th Century Fox only listing a 2D Free Birds that was in 3D theatrically, and now this..

The problem may be that Amazon was offering a 3D BD "Music Bundle" where Walmart has a 3D BD "Music Bundle" listed as an exclusive.

Deep Discount still has a 3D BD pre-order.

Or Disney is pulling another Oz and aren't going to release it as a 3D/2D/DVD/Digital pack.

I really hope they learned there lesson on that release, but I suppose anything is possible.

Well that make me feel a little better! I will wait a few days and see if it comes back.

I just got the email too... Disney would be INSANE not to release this in 3D as it is their most loved and talked about movie in ages.

God I hope not!! That was a great example of terrible consumer policy from Disney!! You would think they would not repeat such a disasterous release?!?! We'll see I suppose.

Sony just did this with Battle of the Year, not that anyone was going to buy Battle of the Year 3D anyways

Didn't they offer buyers of the 2D combo a chance to buy the 3D disc via mail for like $5.00 to try to make up for such a ridiculous release?

Would actually have been a better deal then just buying the standalone 3D bluray + digital copy version. However, I opted for the 3D standalone as I recently contracted that nasty slipcover illness and felt a need for the 3D slipcover.

There are those in the general blu-ray release thread speculating that the 3D verison may be a Walmart exclusive.

It's been getting harder and harder for me to get 3D releases lately, I'd say within the last few months. Some stores have been sporadic in even releasing the 3D version of some movies (like Target for instance and Walmart many times). And if they do, it's only a few copies on launch day. Now Free Birds, with a wide theatrical release in 3D, foregoes a 3D release entirely. Frozen, a major animation film, is now only available in 3D as a Walmart exclusive? This is a disturbing trend. It looks like 3D blu-rays are being phased out. I believe this because the availability and quantity of 3D lately has definitely been on the decline. It pisses me off too because I just paid off an expensive 3D TV.

Still. It is a bit of an alarming trend. 3D really hasn't taken off the way studios thought in the wake of Avatar, and especially in the home market, there just isn't that much material available, it's expensive to make available, and clearly it doesn't sell as much as it should.
Films such as Gravity help to prove 3D is more than just a gimmick and something that can enhance the experience, but those examples are too few and too far between. Really hoping this trend doesn't continue...

You could be on to something. Found that the Blu-ray.com Frozen 3D Blu-ray page removed "Wal-mart Exclusive" from the front of the "Music Bundle" description heading this morning. (Edit: Found that it is still there, but now as an option on another different page.) Maybe we may still get a pre-order notification for an Amazon purchase.
