Awesome news! I had pretty much given up hope of any 50's creature features from Kino (with Rob, in response to my query a couple of months back, stating that they had no plans), so this is most unexpected, and gives me hope for further AIP shenanigans from that era.

That one dude with the avatar from this movie is going to be hyped! This is definitely one of the best of the 50s big bug movies, the creatures are good and the script is unusually well-written. The women in this movie in particular are oddly well-drawn and competent for something from the 50s.

Really great to see this, one of my favorites as child watching it on Creature Double feature out of Boston...

Yeah he will be stoked. I used to have a shirt with that design Akajima posted. This is one of those titles I was fortunate to hear that it was coming and had to hold it in like a fart in public

I owned The Monster That Challenged the World on DVD as a double-feature with It! The Terror from Beyond Space.

I'm not sure if The Monster That Challenged the World really merits an individual Blu-ray purchase for me, but it's a fun little flick in so many ways. I'll probably end up pulling the trigger.

I hope that It! The Terror from Beyond Space is soon to follow, because I'd be all over that one.

It's cool that Kino Lorber is beginning to issue this type of film on blu ray. I think this particular film would be better served as part of a double feature, in the manner of the existing DVD release.

agreed, but I'm happy regardless.... these B-grade 50's sci-fi flicks are severely lacking on the blu ray format and I'd love to get a bunch for my collection!! thanks Kino!!!!!!!!!!

This is fantastic news. These old 50's creature movies are my main area of interest. And, like others, I hope this will lead to the release of other films in the old MGM Midnite Movies stable.

Now, I am a big advocate of double features and I'd be delighted to see this on a double feature BD. But, even as DVDs, these movies were INDIVIDUAL discs long before the later DVD double features. I have these features on separate DVDs so people shouldn't assume that the double feature DVDs were always standard.

This is another day one pre-order from me.

Kino, Shout/Scream and Olive are basically getting my entire Blu-ray budget for several months with these old AIP/UA/MGM releases.

Yes I am!!! I have it on laserdisc and DVD. If the blu-ray pq is excellent, I'll purchase it again. Bring on the snails!!

I just read *IT!* is with another label - its with someone else, and hopefully it will get a blu ray release as well. There is a HD master for it

What a pleasant surprise to see this coming to BD. The movie is pretty good and the monster design very cool.
