Default LG OLED Owners - Question about light/dark transitions

Maybe it's a setting, but none of my past LCD TV's ever had this feature, which is rather distracting. Let me explain -

1) If I pause a movie, then hit play, if it is not a bright scene, it is slightly darker, until it knows it is moving again, then it auto brightens (regardless of light in room)

2) When it goes from a dark to a light scene, it takes a second to adjust itself then flickers to a brighter view.

I'm not sure if this is related to HDR, or just how the OLED's work. I don't even know if I'm explaining it properly. This happens when watching Netflix, blu-rays, UHD's etc through any different players. Maybe it's just part of the tv or maybe a feature I did not change? I searched online yesterday and found this to be a problem with older non LG sets a few years ago, but nothing related to the OLED.

Thanks for any help if possible.

EDIT - The closest thing I found was "global dimming"??
