A New Game by Shinji Makami (the creator of Resident Evil), to bring forward a new generation of Survival Horror?

Funny thing is that it's been shown since E3 2013, but I completely missed it until the Sept 9th Japanese PS4 launch date showcase.

Really looking forward to this game since it was announced. Nice to see horror making a comeback with the PS4.

Lots of little things they should be able to fix but it's just hard for me to get excited about it in the current state.

The HUD graphics don't match the theme very well
Animation is generally stiff and awkward, Naughty Dog's really spoiled me here, crouch-walking lose its sneaky impact
All the bumps the character walks over are passed straight through the body with no buffering so his head jerks up and down
The chainsaw escape sequence seemed out of place within my Resident Evil 4 frame of mind where on-foot character control never shifted to 'cinematic sequence' mode
The whole RE4 villagers with torches barging in through the windows sequence was spoiled by oversized mines that make little impact when exploding, terrible aiming (from the player or mechanics) and poor impact reactions from pistol shots. Too little reaction from body and limb hits and heads blown clean off by a basic weapon.

The Evil Within release date confirmed - August 29th EU August 26th US

Bethesda has confirmed The Evil Within will be released on August 29 in Europe and August 26 in North America.

The Evil Within is the first game from Tango Gameworks, which was founded in 2010 by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and later acquired by Bethesda owner ZeniMax Media.

The Evil Within stars Detective Sebastian Castellanos who, as previously revealed, encounters "a mysterious and powerful force" that brutally kills his colleagues.

Sebastian is knocked unconscious and when he wakes up, finds himself in "a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead."

In our first The Evil Within preview we said, "The Evil Within is a welcome return to survival horror. It mixes the over-the-shoulder combat (and chainsaw-wielding nutters) of Resident Evil 4 with the grim, psychological horror of Silent Hill, and the id Tech-powered visuals are beautifully atmospheric."

The Evil Within will be released for PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

This game a Outlast type of feeling (which is a very good thing IMO). Graphically, it doesn't look very next gen to me IMO (but this could be the last gen version and I hope that's the case because if this is next gen, I'll be very concerned).
