That The Mountain Between Us movie also comes out? Good. I don't have to see the trailer anymore for it.

Blade Runner 2049 $48 million. I think Fury Road will be a good comparison in terms of box office.

My baby 2049 is gonna defecate all over the competition.

I still don't think it'll bring in the big dough, though. I predict that it'll do okay in its opening weekend, then it'll drop once cinema goers realise that it's not an action-packed extravaganza.

I anticipate:

Blade Runner 2049 - $50 million

My Little Pony The Movie - $15 million

Mountain Between Us - $5 million

In terms of long term, Pony should have a good box office life (especially if it has good word of mouth) due to it being the only family film in a crowded adult/teen focused month.

Sadly most audiences might call it boring or dumb. Cause you know how people are if it isn't Boo 2! A Medea Halloween

Considering how many parents freak out when an adult male enters a kid's movie by themselves...

We'll that's there problem. Many adults who wants to see a kids movie usually go to a later show after 7pm so they won't have to put up with those obnoxious, behavioral deficient, pain-in-the-butt children. I'm lucky enough to live near a theater where children are not allowed after 7pm. I saw Spongebob 2 there at the Thursday opening and not a child was in sight and it was awesome.
Plus, I doubt that any adult male that wants to see a kids movie alone would give a damn what some uptight, paranoid parent thinks or anyone for that matter. In their minds, they should stick to football, beer and drooling over hot women.

That's on them, I go to a kids films to enjoy a movie, like any other. Heck, some kids films are even better than some adult films (Kubo, a lot of Pixar film, and Iron Giant, to name a few). If they think I go to them for some creepy thing, that's their wrapped perception, I'm just there to enjoy the artistry. With that said, super excited for both Pony and Blade Runner, I'm debating to do a double feature with both but I don't know if I want to be at the theaters for 5 hours.

Agreed. Animated family film or not, you just go to see a movie you're been looking forward to seeing, that's all. Other people can think what they like, but it's not like it's any of their business.

I know that feeling, I've done it a few times before and it can be exhausting. I wouldn't watch both consecutively though, so maybe a matinee showing for one, then take a break, and then an evening showing for the other? That's what I would be doing if I could do a double feature with both (Pony isn't out until the 20th in the UK).

Back on-topic, I'm actually predicting something in the $20 million range for MLP, thanks to help from a lack of competition for family movies, the fandom (which would give it an audience that isn't exclusively parents and kids), and hopefully good reviews. Blade Runner will still win the weekend, no doubt about it, but I think Pony could perform above expectations.

It's very likely that this will now open between $55-60 million, going off reviews and pre-sales.
