Cheers fanatics,
A quick review for one of the most atmospheric and underrated horror sequels I've seen over the last decade. It's not your typical follow-up with more of the same, "Dead in 3 Days 2" is practically a new film and deals with PTSD more than anything. After the horrific events of part 1 (your typical teenie-slasher fair - not in a bad way though) Nina still has a hard time dealing with the past and after receiving a distressed phone-call from one of her friends she starts looking for her just to arrive in the hands of a demented backwoods (or here alpine) family. To me it reminded me very much of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The film oozes atmosphere and you can not get more isolated here in Austria than on the mountaintops. It also has some nice practical effects and doesn't hold back on the violence. The German/Austrian Blu-Ray (available on amazon.de) has optional English subtitles - so if you're into that sort of thing, it comes highly recommended from my side. |
