Bring on Lord of the Rings. Blu-exclusive. I know on other forums, some ants are saying that they are still in this fight. But not against a flagship trilogy such as this. I think movies such as these (along with Star Wars) are the ones that will really help push HDM more into the mainstream.

Great news! HD DVD has no chance of winning now. I'm glad I invested in the right format!

Well I just read an article over at highdefdigest saying that HBO and New Line Cinema are not covered by Warner's decision. So its up to those companies to decide for themselves.

The article says that New Line and HBO haven't announced where they stand yet but with New Line already serving up Blu-ray titles way in advance of their HD-DVD counterpart, I think its a safe bet they will soon follow suit. I imagine Warner simply wanted New Line to make their own announcement. If Warner were to have announced New Line at the same time it might appear that New Line wasn't in control of their own ship. It's a dignity thing. No one likes having other people forcing them to do anything. This way New Line retains their autonomy from Warner by going Blu with their own announcement without hurting their relationship with the parent company by leaning red in any way. If you ask me, New Line appeared ready to go Blu first by giving us first crack at their titles and feeding the DUDs the leftovers. LOTR exclusive anyone? If that's not a silver bullet, I don't know what is.
