Default Halloween/Horror Deals October 2017

Didn't see a thread for this year - though I'm sure that's because there looks to be pretty much nothing as far as I can tell. Sad. Seems to get worse every year.

I know there are some Giant Tiger horror deals that have been posted about, anyone come across anything else yet?

Amazon had A Cure For Wellness for $10, which I scooped up but was hoping for more. Perhaps later in the month, but I'm not holding my breath.

Here's what we've got so far:

Giant Tiger:
- Various horror films in Halloween bins

Shout/Scream Factory:
Shocktober Sale - No Canadian shipping deals.

Wal-Mart has a Halloween stand that has some decent deals. Suddend posted some pictures of it. The things that stand out are the $8 movies and the WB box sets (Exorcist Anthology, Hammer Horror, King of Horror).

Not sure this warrants its own thread, but if so, someone can create it if they'd like.

Amazon is PMing Best Buy for Sleepwalkers @ $4.99.

Was hoping they would and I just picked it up.

Have never seen Idle Hands but will pick that up also if they PM Best Buy for the same price since they're both $4.99

Ah, sorry. Didn't even realize until looking at the first post again.

Long season isn't even the beginning.

Oh well, we'll see about next year. I'll still be watching Sunday night on because that's what I do.

I wasn't planning on getting anything from the Scream Factory sale this year but it sucks that they seem to be doing away with the free shipping to Canada. There isnt really any point picking the movies up directly through Scream anymore.

Not entirely blu-ray related. But all the Friday the 13th Films are $4.99 each on the iTunes store. Since we may or may not see any of the F13 films beyond 4 released on bluray here.

Not sure if it's a deal but it seems like a new-low according to camelcamelcamel... Underworld Blood Wars has dropped to $15/14.99 at WM and BB, and Amazon PM'D one of them.

Sunrise was our only hope and they haven't tweeted anything about it today so I'm assuming we didn't get it up here. Which is funny because I have been to a couple of Sunrise stores and they both had a Stranger Things display. Would have been a no brainer to carry this release.

I'm not too familiar with Hammer Horror. I was considering the 8 film set but it's hard to find reviews online. Is it worth it?

They are the next step up from the Universal monster movies. Gothic, a little more sexual, with color (And blood). More about mood than violence. Tame by today's standards. Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing are great. In fact the original Fright Night (1985) patterned Peter Vincent after Cushing and the Hammer series. His name is a mash up of Peter Cushing and Vincent Price.

Reading online it seems the 8 film collection has a slightly different aspect ratio than the OAR. Not sure if it's a deal breaker or not.

Depends, I think the German releases for a few of them may be more expensive to get. I went with this set primarily knowing the aspect ratio wasn't a major hindrance for me.

Although, looking at a few DVD Beaver reviews, it seems the Universal releases have a consistent bitrate at and sometimes higher-bitrate for some titles:
