‘Blood Drive’: James Roday To Direct Two Episodes Of Syfy’s Grindhouse Series

Psych alum James Roday has been tapped to direct two episodes of Blood Drive, Syfy’s 13-episode straight-to-series, grindhouse cinema-inspired drama.

Set in a near-apocalyptic future, the series centers on Arthur Bailey (Alan Ritchson), the last good cop in Los Angeles, and Grace (Christina Ochoa), his dangerous femme fatale partner with an agenda of her own. When Grace is forced to partner with Arthur, she’s not thrilled, to say the least. Grace may soon learn that this genuinely moral, nice guy is also a determined survivor, with whom she may have more in common than she had ever imagined.

The gruesome thriller is from UCP and executive producers John Hlavin (Shooter), Fredrik Malmberg (Conan the Barbarian) and David Straiton (Bates Motel), who will also direct. James Roland, who created the series and penned the pilot, will also serve as co-executive producer. Mark Wheeler will serve as producer. The series is currently in production in South Africa.

Roday is best known for his eight-year run as the hyper-observant consultant detective Shawn Spencer on UCP’s and USA Network’s hit comedy series Psych, for which he also wrote and directed several episodes. He made his theatrical directorial debut with the horror-comedy Gravy and has directed TV series including Fox’s Rosewood and CBS’ Rush Hour. Roday is repped by ICM Partners and Principal Entertainment LA.

I'm curious to check this out. Trailers for this make it look gloriously terrible while entertaining.

I caught the trailer some time last week and it look's like it might be fun to check out sort of Grindhouse like seem to be pretty bloody but that was only at one scene at the first part of the trailer.

This was pretty cool. Watched it live last night. Pretty brutal and violent, which is always fun.

I watched it OnDemand and all the F bombs were uncensored. Was it like that during the live broadcast?

I watched the first episode over the weekend, I didn't love it but didn't hate it.
Last night however was a very entertaining hour and I'm surprised SyFy is able to air this but I will continue watching!

First episode wasn't too bad, second was a step up and hopefully on the trend. Surprised how much Syfy gets away with this one. Needs more T&A from the ladies tho

Hope Caligula gets some good kills in the coming episode.
