Default Imdb "characters feature" gone?

Hello.
I can't seen to find something that I loved at imdb.
You went to a movie page (eg. 1776) and when you clicked a character (eg. John Adams) it showed you all the movies that had that character.
Now when you click it it shows you quotes and/or photos with that character from the film.

So, is this gone?

i think it was part of an old design at imdb, and when that design had changed I had kept the old one when I logged in. (there was an option to keep the old one)
Now, even when I log in it has the new design.

Yeah welcome to the new world my friend. We're changing our design and **** you for thinking the old way was better! Progress is always better didn't you know! Just like google maps which is soooo much better than it used to be now that you can barely plan a route, just like the Firefox "Quantum" bookmarking system that requires two icons on opposite sides of the screen compared to the single old icon, and their new tab page that removed the ability to set your own links/icons and instead bombards you with a mountain of "previously visited" links like you're some ****ing 95yr old Alzheimer patient! And yes, just like IMDB's new, horrible layout that AFAIAA nobody seems to prefer and is just a cluster**** of bad design - and on top of that they closed the forum discussion boards and couldn't even be arsed to simply archive a literal treasure trove of online information.

So yeah, looks like they've removed most of their "character name" links from the site so I guess they've been removed too. It's the direction the site's going in I'm afraid, slowly circling the drain.

Obviously they weren't making any money off it so it got axed. IMDB is literally an advertising site for the major studios, nothing more.

To be fair, concerning the forums, they were a cess pool. I agree about most of the other changes being for the worse. But I certainly didn't shed a tear when they got rid of the discussion boards.

Back in my day, we had to go to the library to find anything out, and even then the book was either checked out or outdated.

Stay off my lawn!

Christ I nearly did, it was a goldmine of information on cult and classic cinema. I completely agree it was a cesspool ful of horrible YouTube level misanthropic garbage posting from kids, idiots and trolls ruining many a thread on most mainstream Hollywood films, but you could easily just ignore that crap and focus on the helpful, informative posting. I can see why they decided to close the forums, but the decision to remove the archive was absolute madness! I know a chunk of it was archived over on moviechat.org but a lot of it has apparently evaporated into the digital ether. Such a shame!

Isn't this owned by Google? Why in ***'s name does this stuff go backwards and get all shot to hell?

Like Shingster said. There was lot of shitposting for major films but there was plenty of good info to be found for less popular films and i really miss reading other peoples interpretations from there.

They are quickly making IMDB irrevelant with these changes.

There was a lot of pressure on IMDB by the studios to change how it operated.

It's been owned by Amazon for nearly 20 years.

I really enjoyed the message boards too, but Amazon did keep it around for ~19 years in their ownership experience. Probably took a ****load of human volunteer moderators just to keep it a semblance of normal.
