Default Warner to stop releasing hd dvds in May

Why May?

I get that they dont want to screw HD DVD owners to bad (like Paramount did to us), but May seems too long of a time frame.

Don't get me wrong, I am very thrilled about this, but why May?

there's prolly a contract as toshiba mentioned in their release and they would need some time to clear all their stuff fully so 6 months is alright totally finish Hd-dud

while paramount knew that they would need the blu-ray facility in the future so they prolly stopped that factory for a while

Yeah I think somewhere in the conference call that it was mentioned May, 31, 2008 due to contractual obligations with the DVD Forum.

Most likely some kind of business deal that Warner had previously made with Toshiba, which might explain why certain Warner titles have not yet been released on Blu-ray, and apparently it ends in May. Of course the announcement alone will help Blu-ray greatly but this does mean that the full impact of Warner's decision won't be felt until June.

Well there you go. Two good things have come out of that day at least.

Plus I like how they have changed their stance on the release of movies in both formats up until that day. With HD-DVD titles coming to retail after a yet to be named number of days after the Blu-ray version.

I don't think there will benew announcements - and to be honest with you - they may even move the date up. Really - why manufacture all these HD-DVDs if no one is going to buy them?

That is a question that only a few at Waner and maybe the BDA and DVD Forums could answer.

Apparently there'll be a delay between when the Blu-Ray/ DVD versions of their movies get released and when the HD DVD version is. It doesn't say how long but hopefully it's a while. Not that it's a big deal anymore the war's over.

That's asking a lot for the obsolete.

As I said on another thread, it's a collection of dead horses.
