Hello all.
With my thread regarding the LG UP870, and now this, one may assume I have some sort of vested interest in either WM or LG, but I assure you that is not the case. I am simply looking for the lowest cost way to jump into 4k, while not giving up "everything" in quality. Having said that, after stumbling across the LG player, I began to notice the 49UJ6200 tv popping up for a reasonable $328 at several Wal-Mart stores around me. Here is a link to this model on the official LG site. http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-49UJ6200-4k-uhd-tv My biggest concern with this panel is that I'm really confused about the HDR capability. The box and website seem to indicate this is an HDR10 capable set, however, they are vague with their wording, and say "Active HDR" and "HDR Compatible". ![]() I cannot determine with100% certainty weather or not this is a true 10 bit panel. Their low cost 4k player explicitly states HDR10 in the specs tab. This doesn't seem to state anything explicitly anywhere. I even downloaded the user manual, and was actually shocked at how poor and uninformative it turned out to be. ![]() Does anyone here have any experience with this panel, or know anything about its technical prowess? I ask because of learning in another thread, that manufacturers will write HDR on the box, simply to market the tv, even if the panel isn't a true HDR panel. I want to verify this is indeed a true 4k HDR 10 bit panel, otherwise, it's a no-go for my wants at this time. Yes, I am fully aware that this tv and the UP870 player are not DV or HDR10+ capable, but to me the dynamic HDR modes are all icing on the UHD cake for the cutting edge crowd. When you boil it all down, the "standard" is 10 bit HDR. At this point in time, I simply don't have the budget to also chase after all the competing dynamic formats. However, at a minimum, I want to have hardware that meets the "standard" capabilities of the format. Thank you. ![]() Last edited by 4kUltraBD; 12-12-2017 at 12:35 AM. |
