Inland Empire will be released by CG Entertainment from a new HD master (at least CG sez so). Users can pre-order the numbered edition (1000 copies only; sold 931 in a week) via the CG Store. Copies will start shipping from mid June. A regular edition will follow later on, most likely Aug-Sep or even Oct.

LOL it was shot standard def video, so a new HD master won't look much (if any) better than what's already out there.

I'd only bother upgrading if they include More Things That Happened, which is only on the US DVD.

So, this was bound to be released in June but, covid aside, has been postponed until now, coz CG decided to consult Lynch himself who, through Studio Canal, supervised the grading and the audio (in short, this is director-approved).
The bad news for anglophones is that the parts in Polish are not English-subtitled (just in Italian).
CG used 47,5 GB for the film. The result is probably the best this film will ever look, I guess. Through the new grading, gone is the red push on the UK BD, and the image tends to be a tad sharper, also because, in all likelihood, the UK BD was smoothed. Not a major upgrade as predictable, but looks like a nice one. I still have to watch the whole film so I presently do not know if there are anomalies. No extras aside a booklet in Italian.

The Italian release has a David Lynch approved restoration, so I'm assuming it'll come to Criterion this year. There's been a Lynch release every year since 2015, can't imagine this year will be any different. Watch it be a shocking turn of events and The Straight Story gets released instead lmao

The Eagle Pictures BD of the newly restored master runs at a range of 1/3 to 1/2 lower than the bitrate found on the U.S. Criterion Collection BD, and sometimes falls into the single digits. A major waste of my import dollars. After the miracle they performed on TOTAL RECALL, I mistakenly thought they were masters at their game, but this is some half-assery here.
