Not playing on any IMAX screen around here; not even the Toronto Science Centre (though it may back its way there eventually).

It's times like this I wish the Cinesphere in Toronto were still open full-time. It was the world's first permanent IMAX screen, and to this day still one of the most unique. Recently it's been used as a testbed for some of their new laser projection technologies, however at the moment it isn't a regular venue open to the public.

I saw it at AMC Empire 25 on Friday. Like most IMAX produced and filmed documentaries, it looks great and has great 3D (mostly in depth, though a couple very strong pop outs from insects flying to the camera). Also nice, given how finding 3D IMAX showings have become rare, I've seen IMAX 3D movies for three straight weeks: Pacific Rim in IMAX laser, and Ready Player One and Pandas in IMAX digital (whereas in the previous 8 plus months it had just been Thor and The Last Jedi).

BTW, the film has a bunch more locations (though most are museum sites, and some open later in the month)- there is a list here

Great 3D review, thanks XBS. Sounds like a classic, strong 3D Imax film.

This is actually playing near me! The man in the film, Ben Kilham, is a well known "self-taught" bear expert in New Hampshire. I read about this film some months ago in the local paper.
Mr Kilham has even lectured at my town library.

Saw this at the Jordan's Laser IMAX on Friday. https://imaxtixs.jordans.com/Reading/

Absolutely stunning 3D. Saw Ready Player One right after... average conversion, but it really suffered after just watching Pandas.

Also saw 'Ready Player One' at the Dolby Cinema in Dorchester MA. I would recommend the 2D experience for that movie. Too many(digital!) lens flare effects that don't do well in 3D.

Filmed Imax 3D is usually very strong, so good to hear they're keeping that standard with Pandas.

not that wiki is always 100 percent accurate (nor imdb for that matter either), this was indeed shot in 15/70 ~ correct?

It was, and seems to have had a photochemical finish (there was a credit for "IMAX 70mm interpositive assembly" in the credits). There is one sequence which was not shot in IMAX due to the nature of the scene and that is presented in 2D with a different aspect ratio.

Probably not in the US. Rest of the world, there's a chance.

well ... this is a Warner Bros. theatrical release, so I'd think this might have a strong chance of being released in 3D in here in the US. as they did with 'Island of Lemurs"

I got the UHD, which does look pretty good. Wish it could have been in 3D.

So no 3D release anywhere in the world or is one possible in the future?
