Has Candyman ever been available in the iTunes Store? I’ve never noticed.

I'm getting a "secure link to ITunes Store failed" message when I run a diagnostic in ITunes after the last update. I've boiled it down to an apple/windows software handshake issue. I've tried about 20 different methods in an attempt to fix it. No dice. I guess I won't be buying anything from ITunes from now on.

I've seen this happen with a lot of movies in my Wish List. I've also seen Extended Versions be removed once the regular version includes iTunes Extras and includes the extended version within it, so you can't call for Siri on an Apple TV to bring up your purchased/digital copy version. The best thing to do when you see a movie you want, get it right away. It doesn't matter how popular the movie is, it's not guaranteed to be there tomorrow. I saw it happen with The Dark Knight, went away for almost a year, then came back as a pre-order, the exact same version, same comments, some ratings, etc.

I see. I’ve never heard of that problem before. But can’t you get access to the store on your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV etc?

I definitely agree with buying ones that you really want when you first see them listed in the iTunes Store. Normally, this issue applies primarily to catalog titles. Not big blockbusters like The Dark Knight, which is why I’m surprised it disappeared from the store for almost a year, like you say.

I’m sure I saw The Basketball Diaries in the iTunes Store once before. Titles get pulled from the store all the time. Lisenses expire or change hands.

The remake to Suspira is released next year, so expect the original to appear around then.

I’m still new to the iTunes digital game. So if you buy a movie and that title gets pulled later on, does anything happen to your copy? Silly question i know. Cheers

There use to be complaints many years ago from people who’d bought titles from iTunes and they’d been pulled from the store, which meant they’d disappeared from their cloud locker.

I’ve not known of anyone more recently to have that problem. It does say in the small print that you’re suppose to download everything you buy from iTunes, because there’s no guarantee that anything will remain in your locker forever. You’re not paying for your items to be kept in a cloud, you’re just paying for a digital copy. That’s it.

It’s ironic that I was just discussing this with you earlier. I purchased 2 titles a couple of years ago, that are no longer in the iTunes Store. They haven’t been for a while now. Yet today, I’ve noticed that the TV app on my iPhone has become Videos (how it use to be). But those 2 titles are no longer in my locker. They’ve disappeared completely.

When I get back home, I’ll switch my Apple TV on and see if they are there. If not, then I’ll confirm to you and everyone else here, that discontinued titles in the iTunes Store, CAN be deleted from your library, once purchased.
