Default Elder Scrolls: Skyrim PS VR

Now that the game has been announced and apparently comes complete with expansion packs, who is buying this and more to the point, who is buying the VR headset to play this game.

This was all I could ever hope for... I just hope the movement is free reign and not teleportation.

It should boost sales for sure. Nice meaty game to get stuck into. I am also hoping for some new tables for the pinball game. I was half expecting Matvel to announce a few tables but nothing so far.

I didn't get the third expansion for ES Skyrim but I hear it was easily the best of the three.

Skyrim VR trailer:

Controller layout: Fallout VR (yet to be announced for PSVR...)

This guy says the whole game is explorable. I hope we can use the dual shock for this.
Okay, the guys said you can totally use your dual shock instead. Cool.

If any game would get me into VR with stereo 3D, Fallout VR would be the one, then Skyrim VR. These are the fully open world games I want to experience in VR stereo 3D. While it would be great if they were entirely new games, I am intrigued by these titles and very happy Bethesda supports VR. Now they just need to get Fallout VR on PSVR asap!!!

Doom VR could be cool too.

It will be a huge commitment. I think this is the testbed for a brand new open world game. If this sells well and sells a few headsets we may get our wish.

Steedeel, yes, this could be the start of open world games in VR, moving well beyond the smaller games we've mostly seen so far aside from some full fledged VR games, like RE7 and some others. Whenever I thought about Virtual Reality, exploring another world was always the goal.

I am interested in when these will be available. I really want to hear them announce Fallout VR for 2018 at least. I hope it's not exclusive.

As far as moments from Skyrim, just exploring the vast open world is an experience in itself. Listening to the birds chirping as you walk through the forest, climbing a mountain and entering a damp, dark dungeon to face off against the tombs of the dead and the evil Sorcerer at the end. Lots of great things in Skyrim.

For the VR Skyrim/Fallout, I'll guess they're doing away with the option for the 3rd person view, instead favoring the intent to have the player be part of this first person view. Main reason I like 3rd person view in games is for the ability to see your character, though I can totally understand why they might choose this FPV instead. We will see soon enough.

Imagine how nerve wracking it will be in dungeons? I have forgot some of the game. It will be like playing it for the first time using the headset.

Yes, there are a nice amount of horror based monsters in Skyrim. More than from Fallout 4 even. Walking skeletons, monsters, demons, etc. The graphics in the dungeons, with the real time lighting and shadows, very cool. In stereo 3D, it should look amazing.

EDIT:

SKYRIM VR http://www.playstation.com/en-us/gam...skyrim-vr-ps4/
Release Date: 11/2017
Genre: Action / Adventure / Role Playing Game (RPG)
Skyrim VR reimagines the complete epic fantasy masterpiece with an unparalleled sense of scale, depth, and immersion. From battling ancient dragons to exploring rugged mountains and more, Skyrim VR brings to life a complete open world for you to experience any way you choose.

I didn't buy Skyrim PS4 as I already have it on PS3, so this being announced is good news IMO for PSVR.

Steedeel, did you get to see the live playstation show of Skyrim VR today? I went to live.playstation.com but the E3 Live Twitch show was just a black screen. I'll have to watch it later hopefully as a replay.

No mate, I didn't. I kind of want to avoid it until I buy the game though. One of my little quirks. I don't like seeing too much. I am the same with films.

Okay, thanks. I'd like to see more of how it interacts with the VR. I found a video showing some of it at e3 2017, but it was from a far distance and the guy playing was having trouble moving and had to use the teleport to cross the ground quickly.

I was never into Elder Scrolls but will buy this just for the fact it's a PS VR title.

The VR version of Skyrim will be a real litmus test of how current VR can hold up in such a giant world full of what Skyrim offers. It'll show all the weaknesses of the current hardware and where changes need to be made Imo.

The amount of enemies on screen at once in some missions might even be the Achilles as well as draw distances being a little poor etc. All things that will expose what VR 2.0 on consoles needs to bring.

Agreed. Personally, I know I can handle a full game with rapid movement for several hours so bring it on!

I've never played Skyrim and I'm very keen on PSVR... I imagine the audio (if it's binaural/3D sound) would add another amazing layer to this kind of game.

I'm looking at August or September to pick one, all being well...
