I miss when this series was just a fun arcade racer. Story driven NFS haven't done so well, but hopefully this one is much better than their previous story driven games

I'm with you on both comments. I don't care anything about being chased by the cops or jumping from my car. I just want to be able to Free Roam and do other random crap at my leisure. I swear that if they did a Burnout Paradise remaster they would make millions.

At this point, how do you know the Fast and Furious "vibe" isn't just story cutscenes, and during that you can also do exactly what you said you want to do and "free roam and do other crap at my leisure".

Maybe I'm weird, but I wouldn't completely discount the game with 1 cutscene-based trailer and no gameplay. The fact that they mention finding scrap cars seems to really indicate there will be a free roam component, but we won't know until probably E3.

I'll agree and maybe there is more to the game. I actually enjoyed the driving around and racing parts of the other Need for Speed games. The part I didn't like was the cops chasing you. It always seemed that when I was finally getting into a grove of the race or enjoying the scenery at 100+ MPH a dang cop would roll up on me and I'd have to run from it.

Not half as annoying as the random online griefers in the last game.

I enjoyed the last few so I'll grab this one too if the reviews are solid. I'll wait til next summer when it is $15 for the deluxe edition like the other games. I rarely, if ever, replay them once I complete them.

I actually love the look of this and the trailer interested me. However, it's meant to hook you and I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll get arcade racing back to form in NFS alongside a decent story set up.

No Criterion Games, no care. The last game was such a pile. How have we fallen so far from the greatness that was Hot Pursuit in 2010? Is it too much to ask to have supercars sliding around point to point tracks in online lobbies? That is what made NFS Hot Pursuit so great. Trying to recapture the magic they caught with the old Underground games will just continue to result in these crappy games.

Which came first, Need for Speed games with cops vs racers, or Fast and the Furious Movies? NFS I imagine inspired the FnF movies, so in that sense, not a big deal IMO that this has a Fast Furious style to it, as long as it's fun to play.

Of course, I don't believe they'll match NFS Rivals unless they offer a cop mode. That mode lets you drive at leisure, ignoring chases if you don't feel like it. Or play as a racer and then be forced into chases. This may be the latter with this new game. Not sure yet.

Ghost Games made NFS Rivals, which was great on PS4 2013. Then they made NFS Underground (title?) Online Only, which I avoided. If this is online only again, I'll avoid buying it again.
